El Trompito Taqueria — Restaurant in Colorado

Ridiculously overpriced! Went here the other day, half the staff quit. Only 2 people working on a Friday evening. Place was empty anyways so i guess it didnt matter. The lady cooking was using her bare hands on ready to eat food. We ordered a small ($2) and large ($4) horchata. When they brought it to us, it looked exactly like the same amount, they just used 2 different cups. So we did an experiment.. asked for another cup, poured 1 into the other and what do you know? They were the exact same amount! I confronted the cashier about it because its literally double the price! She said, idk, the owner makes us do it.. i told her i want a refund which she then started talking to me like im stupid making a big deal over $2. You bet i am! Imagine them doing this to people alllll day... it adds up! Our total was $60 for 3 people! Seriously?? The food has def gone downhill also. Tasteless and the salsa bar was full of old, dry veggies....

I popped into this place randomly just looking for pozole on Google. It looks like a small joint but it's pretty big inside. Excellent decor and extremely clean. The bathrooms were spotless. I thought the $21 fee was a bit high for what ended up being a small posole and a cup of coffee but then I tasted it and thought, no I could do that.

They have a small patio out front and I was able to sit at a perfectly lovely little table in the cool air with an umbrella above me. They speak Spanish and English and the cashier serve me coffee outside three times and also packed up my leftovers to go for me. It's kind of out of the way for me so I don't know how many times I'll get over there but I would definitely...

Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience here.

THE GOOD: The service seemed good but the lady just talked everything up on the menu. The cucumber lime and horchata drinks were good but a tad bit sweet.

THE BAD: Food was not good especially considering the price - two drinks and two disappointing dishes cost over $50… The Chile Relleno was awful - batter was very eggy and very bland as if I was eating an omelette with a chile pepper and cheese. Carne Asada plate was over cooked and didn’t taste very good either. Beans and cheese were watery and had no taste.
