Would have given them another half star if I could because only the service was lacking. The waiter rushed my drink order so I didn't order my strawberry margarita on the rocks (sure my fault but he barely heard my order before he was off to the bar). Even though it came frozen it was good, especially once it started melting.
I felt the waiter was in a rush all the time to take our drink and meal order. He did come by a couple times to check on us for more chips, salsa and another beer for hubby.
We ordered the queso dip to go with the chips, salsa and beans which come to the table as soon as you sit down. However, the queso was barely warm and the chips aren't anything special, felt I've had better from the grocery store.
The restaurant is beautifully decorated with lots of color.
We came in on Cinco de Mayo but no specials, no advertisement for any celebration...odd, other than the staffs shirts.
I had to ask for my guacamole and sour cream which should have come with the meal but wasn't brought.
Camerones carnitas is a huge portion, plenty of shrimp, mushrooms, onions and peppers, along with beans and rice. All that was delicious. Hubby ordered camerones vallerta which was plenty for him and also delicious.
So the food and decor I give 4 stars but service gets 3 1/2 stars. We were staying across the highway and wanted some place close and this fit the bill. Kind of pricey but you do get very large portions. Maybe think about...
Read moreFinally found an authentic Mexican restaurant with decent prices and decent service. They make all their own food from scratch, including the chips, salsa, and refried beans! The food was perfectly seasoned as I am used to from growing up in Texas. So often, places charge you extra for sour cream or refried beans, etc., as if it will break them to include it, but not here. When they seat you, they greet you warmly and with sincerely smiles, explain the menu, ask if you have any questions that they can assist with, and if you have handicap equipment (as a friend of mine had), they offer to move it to the side/front for you and bring it back when you're ready to leave. All of that from just the hostess that seats you! Immediately, a FRESH basket of tortilla chips, salsa, AND refried beans (with a wonderful blend of seasoning) is brought to your table, and they keep refilling all of it without having to be asked! VERY clean, VERY nice people, VERY comfortable and beautiful atmosphere, large portions, VERY good prices, and more. I give this experience 5 stars across the board except in one area -- staffing. The first person that I asked "Do you make your own chips?" was unable to speak ANY English. As a person with a career focus on identity security and against ALL forms of illegal immigrant residency or employment, I have to assume that her situation and that of other staff members is not completely legal, which I find entirely...
Read moreJust ordered the seafood chimichanga, honestly not great. The chimichanga wasn't fried and if it was, not very long. Granted I did order for pick up so it took me 5 more minutes to arrive and pick up my meal but its essentially a smothered burrito. Additionally, the description is that its covered in creamy sauce and topped with sour cream. I'm not sure if that sauce was primarily sour cream but that's all it tasted like. Finally I did order the Chili Con Queso which somehow almost completely coagulated by the time I got home. Not sure if I came at a bad time (today at like 5:20pm ((dinner time)) or why this was so poor given the amount of reviews this place has. I cannot say I am a legit critic because I never leave reviews but as a previous service member in the Army, I have eaten and tasted some nasty stuff in my time and choked it down. I didn't expect this to challenge a half frozen vegetarian MRE with bits of dirt and dust in it. Before some generic HR response of we would like to know more about your experience comes back to me just save your breath. I will not be eating from this...
