Filth and more filth Motel 6 Fort Collins CO in Fort Collins, CO
I had paid in advance for a room, and I should have made a much closer look at what I got. I have no idea when the laws were changed, but I had to specifically tell them that I wanted a non-smoking room, when I set up the reservation. It seems no one could read because I had to tell the folks at the front desk about one of my specific requests.
Not only that, but I did not feel comfortable the first night because the first thing I saw in the room were the cigarette burns on the bed coverings. I barely had any Wi-Fi access in the room. One thing I noticed is my service dog would not sit or lay on the floor. To me, that was okay because we had not “cuddled” in quite some time because of the time I suffered from COVID-19 and pneumonia.
The second of three nights I had paid for, after taking a shower, I finally noticed one of the many reasons why I had felt uncomfortable when I got into the room. Under the sink, behind the toilet and behind the door in the bathroom were never cleaned. It was not something I would have expected in a college town and next to the interstate highway system.
Still had little to none by way of internet access, got tired of trying to get online so I turned on the television only to find there was no reception on the television. Called the front desk to find out what was happening. I was then told that the weather caused the outage on the television and no idea when it would be fixed. I then asked about the internet access and was told it should not be a problem.
It was then I started packing everything up, and everything combined has me wonder if I can talk to someone about the mess that I experienced. I guess it was a good thing that there was no breakfast as advertised for I would fear getting food poisoning.
I guess the one good thing about the place is that there were no bedbugs in the room because that was one of the first things I checked for once I realized that those holes were cigarette burns. Not only that, but I just told the folks when I checked out that there was about 30 inches (76.2 cm) of snow back home and needed to get back there.
One thing that took me by total surprise was being told that it would cost an extra $5 for either the room fridge or microwave. To top it off, that was a charge per night. What fully ticked me off was the idea of being charged an extra $30 for three nights for what was advertised as well as shown as part of the room. Things like this not showing up as a part of an upfront price gives the impression that they may also rent the rooms out on a per half to...
Read moreSorry for the long review! So my husband and our baby booked a room here for about a week and then came to check in. We were in the middle of moving and our house wasn’t ready till the next week. So all of our money went to the move and we saved enough for us to get gas and to stay at a motel. We paid with our card and went to the room. We went in and the beds were made but there was cigarette butts everywhere and trash hadn’t been taken out and it honestly reeked of cigarettes. My husband was upset so he went to the front desk to let the manager know and showed pictures. He showed him and asked him for a broom, and manager declined then tried to call housekeeping but they didn’t answer. After he tried calling, he immediately refunded our stay. My husband came back freaking out because refunds on cards take 3-5 business days. So, I go up there to talk to him. He says there’s nothing he can do, he said “you did not like the room, so I refunded it.” I said we just didn’t want cigarette butts everywhere with our 9 month old daughter. He declined and kept saying housekeeping was not there and left for the day and there were no rooms available. I head back to the room and I call corporate. First lady I spoke to, hung up on me midway through the conversation. Second lady was very understanding of our situation but she couldn’t do anything because it was a privately owned location. My husband went to a nearby hotel and begged for help. We had $60 and no rooms were $60 for the night. Luckily at motel 9 the cashier gave us $10 and helped us out because he understood. Well, I was told I would be reached out by the GM of motel 6 but I haven’t heard back. I’m very disappointed and upset. Not to mention, when we left the motel 6, we saw the housekeeper cleaning a room down the hall. We are currently still waiting for our close to $400 refund 🙃 We always stayed at motel 6, but not anymore. This just ruined by day, night and i’m still upset about it. I don’t usually leave reviews but I had to. Seems like this worker just did not care about us or anything else. We didn’t even ask for a refund, just a broom. We were exhausted and hadn’t slept in like 24 hours after moving cross country. I hope motel 6 GM calls me because I really want to speak with someone else.
Side note, motel 9 was great. GREAT staff. The rooms included more, as in, fridge, freezer, and a TV. I highly recommend that motel. And...
Read moreGave away my room! I made my reservation to stay in a smoke-free room with two beds about 3 months before my 4 night stay. My stay was for bringing my son to Colorado State University move-in day. My son and I and thousands of other families and their college kids. In other words, every hotel for miles around sold-out.
On my arrival day, my plane was delayed by several hours. Instead of landing at 1800, we were scheduled to land at 2330. As soon as I found out about the change I called the hotel and explained my situation. I told the manager to please run my card to pay for the room as I would be arriving around 0400 and wanted to make sure my son and I had a room. Longer story made slight shorter. I called the hotel immediately upon landing to say that I was on track for a 0400 arrival. I was assured everything was set.
I picked up a rental car and off we went. We landed in Denver. Fort Collins is about 3 hrs away. Halfway there I stopped for coffee and decided to check-in with the hotel. A quite curt front desk person told me that as I had not arrived by midnight and not contacted the hotel, they had charged my card and resold my reserved and paid for room. We turned around to go back to Denver, now searching for a place to stay. The, I stopped and thought about it. It was 0600 and the Welcoming session started at 0800. We went to the session after starting our journey 28 hrs previously. (At the beginning of our trip, we have a 2-hr drive to our departing airport). We found a hotel 2 hrs south of Denver in which I stayed in for the rest of our trip. My son moved into his dorm after the Welcoming session. All my efforts to stay in touch with the hotel were useless. To make matters even worse, I was charged twice for the same room several hours apart. Once when I called and asked to repay, and again when I was marked as a no-show. Adding on to my frustration was that because if the double charges at the same motel, my credit card was blocked because of possible fraudulent activity. Getting at least one of the charges reversed took months. I think that ends my saga. Not a good experience. And I travel a lot. Thank you for giving me a chance to inform other travelers and vent my...
