Immediately upon checking in, I should have heeded the red flag from another customer. As my sister and I were waiting to check in, another customer came down and told the front desk clerk that there were already people in her room that she had just received a key card for. He acted surprised and scribbled down a note on a piece of paper and issued her a different key card. Maybe a fluke, I thought to myself.
I complete the check in process, the clerk seemed a little all over the place, and wrote down our room numbers on a post it, which is odd and they didn't enter any of this information in a computer that I could see. My sister and I went up to our separate rooms, which is when the full reality of how bad this hotel is hit us.
Immediately upon walking into our rooms our nostrils were infused with a horrible rank stale cigarette and body odor smell. The carpet had multiple stains from unknown sources saturating the carpet. Very warily, I pulled back the bed sheets to check for bed bugs and found that the top sheet had cigarette burns throughout portions of the sheet, and the comforter had unknown dark red stains on the bottom side.
I called my sisters room to see if her experience was any better in her room. She stated that no, it smelled and also had stains throughout the floor. While on the phone with her someone tried to enter her room with an active working keycard!!! She had already engaged the door chain lock, so they were unable to open the door passed that point. However, based on this experience and the state of the rooms we quickly decided to go to a different hotel.
We went downstairs and had to wait in line as a new clerk was now at the desk (We had only been here about 30 minutes, but it was during a shift change checked in at 11PM and were back down in the lobby at 11:35PM). Once we finally were able to talk to the new clerk and air our grievances and ask for a refund, she sadly was ill trained and had only been working there for 3 days. She called the manager Wendy and relayed all the issues we encountered but Wendy was less then cooperative and not hospitable at all. Wendy refused to refund, did not even attempt to speak to us, and used her front desk clerk as an intermediary. She mentioned coming by the next morning to discuss, but there was absolutely nothing to discuss as we had already relayed the information to the clerk and were leaving this hotel and turned in the key cards. The room was not fit for an overnight stay by anyone, especially at the rates they charged. I was in town for a family emergency and this is the last thing anyone should have to deal with after little to no sleep through multiple days.
If I could rate this hotel zero stars, I would, however I would strongly urge anyone looking at hotels in this area to pass on the Baymont Inn as it has very poor management, smelly and unclean rooms/linens, and is essentially unsafe and...
Read moreUPDATE We had a charge on our credit card for double what we paid for the room. We called and they said they charged an extra $50 "room fee" in case the room were to show damages, and that it would be refunded in the next 24 hours. We were never informed of this fee, and it didn't show on our receipt at check-out. Some shady business going on here...
I've stayed at several Baymont Inns, and this one is by far the lowest quality. I hate to leave a review like this because I'm a loyal Wyndham Rewards member. The hotel reeked of cigarettes (so bad we actually had to buy a can of Febreze to douse our room), our bed was sunken in on one side because the springs were busted, the mattress had a huge brown stain on it, the desk chair was covered in stains and tears, and the carpet was old and tattered. Strangely, all the other furniture, 42" HD TV, and wall paint looked new and quite modern. We would have preferred a firm, clean bed and fresh smell instead of these. It was like someone put icing on a 40-year-old birthday cake... There is no pool or hot tub at this location, and the free breakfast consists of only cereal, waffles, gas station quality bagels and muffins, hand fruits, and Activia yogurt. No hot foods or juice like at other Baymont Inns. There is coffee and tea. For the price of $79/night, I expected better. The beds/carpeting need to be replaced and the old cigarette smell removed from the rooms to put this above the ranking of cheap motels. My husband and I agreed that we wouldn't come back even for $20/night. The staff at the front desk were very friendly, but said they couldn't do anything to refund our money because we waited until checkout to mention the problems. We just figured none of the other rooms would be much better, given that the entire hallway smelled, and it was outrageous that we were prepared a broken bed... The manager and desk clerk said they didn't know it was...
Read morei payed 60 $ only to find out upon arrival that i had to add another 50$ cash deposit , in order to stay there, i payed the surprise fee believing i was paying extra to be in a sanitary and well kept motel , as i had planned to have my niece and two nephews (all under the age of 6) to visit in the morning. needless to say my plans crashed and burned rather quickly. later while in my room i dropped my cell phone behind the bed i had to pull the bed out in order to reach it. well to my surprise there was a used syringe with blood still in it behind the bed. not wanting to stay in a room that clearly was not properly or thoroughly cleaned i went out to the front desk to share my findings with the staff member on duty. this woman seemed very nonchalant, and very dis concerned with what i found to be something that was not ok in any way, shape or form. this was not only a health hazard but also shows a lot about where this hotel is headed in the near future, and soon I'm sure that a nights stay will no longer be an option, considering i was told i would be refunded in full only to discover last night while going over finances and such that i was not refunded one bit of my hard earned money $110. i was willing to give them another chance and to not write a review at all, however since this business has absolutely no regard for the most important aspect of any business, (customers) and did not hold up to what they said they would do to fix this mistake that could have been so much worse than it was, thank god for that, i am here to let at the public know about my terrible experience and the improper handling of something that was an atrocious mistake on their behalf. further more, this hotel is soon sure to be classified as just another run-down crack shack of a motel in Fort...
