You can tell that this place is overrated (especially as of late) based on the fact that people who are giving this place 5 stars arenāt saying anything about it or they leave unconstructive, generic remarks.
The Piper is essentially a hole-in-the-wall biker bar that used to have good wings and Chinese food. My favorite items used to be the Asian wings, Cantonese chicken and egg rolls. Now anybody who knew anything about the history of the Piper knows that the kitchen was run by a Chinese family, which is no longer the case since this past summer. I first found out the kitchen manager left after a visit in back in October when I order some Asian hots then when they finally came out; first they didnāt look right and worst was they didnāt taste right.
After giving the Piper a couple of months to get things in order; Iām disappointed by the fact that when I had their Cantonese chicken and an egg roll the chicken nuggets werenāt fresh made, but I was more disappointed in the egg roll, which is no longer that giant, homemade egg roll everyone has grown to love, but reminiscent of those frozen, processed ones you can find in Samās Club.
What really irks me about what has happened to this place is the unreasonable price hike, which ownership claims is a āmarket price adjustmentā. I have to call the Piper out that statement based on the fact that no other place whether itās a chain (Buffalo Wild Wings) or even other small businesses (Woodyās Wings, Fire on the Mountain) has raised their prices. This past summer, 10 wings were $8.75 for the Asian wings, in October they were $9.75 and now theyāre $10. So in the past 5 months it went up by $1.25 and their Buffalo wings have gone up an astounding $1.50. Itās not like thereās a chicken shortage.
Service has only ever been okay at best, the food made the lack of service tolerable, but now management had the audacity to serve its customers food from the frozen section AND expect them to pay more for an inferior product. Chefs and recipes have clearly changed despite the responses from ownership. If the chefs were still there then there would be no reason to get frozen egg rolls. The Piper once had the best quality food with unbeatable value, but now they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLet me say Iāve past this place for 13 years and never knew it was a chinese restaurant hiding behind a biker bar. On Parker road it looks empty besides motorcycles in the front. Thatās because the parking lot is well hidden in the back. Two weeks ago I heard itās actual a fairly great chinese restaurant so I went tonight. I would give it a strong 8.5 or 9 out of 10. When I go back soon Iāll have a better idea what to order. My wife and son went and we ordered a lot of food. First off Iām from New York and havenāt found a decent eggroll since Iāve been here. That changed today. It was fresh as was all the food. It was that real New york sized eggroll, not that spring roll shit that every chinese place serves here. It came with spicy mustard which was really good. We ordered the pork fried rice as well which had a nice flavor but seemed to be missing a few spices but it was very fresh, although it could have been hotter but they may have just been the temperature in the room. We ordered the wings chinese style which I canāt recommend. Right on the menu it said āsaltyā but I didnāt really know what that meant, or why they would admit to their food being salty, or if it was salty why not change it. It was definitely the weakest part of the meal, again not that hot but a good flavor and sauce. It was just way to salty, unenjoyable. Iāll order a different flavor next time. My son ordered that 1920 burger with carne asada fries, which was big and we had to take it home. The fries were good but again a lot of flavor. Everything was really fresh though. It was $75 plus tip for all the food. Also got two drinks. I do recommend it, canāt wait to try different wings and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really enjoyed my experience at Piper Inn. It's kind of a bizarre place. It sits right in the middle of a relatively busy area, but when you walk in you feel like you're in some Midwest lodge/restaurant. The building is older and decorated like an old bar. Everybody is kind. I don't know if this was the case, but it felt like there were a bunch of regulars there. Everything about it felt like it was perfectly out of place - and I loved it. The service was great. Each person who came to the table was very kind and made sure all drinks were handled well. The menu is much more extensive than I expected it to be. I was expecting a relatively small selection and mostly just typical 'American' food. However, there were a lot of surprises on the menu. Their wings and onion rings were excellent. We tried 3 difference sauces for the wings - 2 of their seasonal specials and 1 of their staples. The strawberry apricot habanero was excellent! I'm pretty sure it was my favorite. It was a perfect blend of sweet, tangy, and spicy! The garlic parmesan was unique compared to other similar ones I've had at other places, but it was very good as well. And the medium buffalo sauce was excellent! Great flavor! Prices were pretty reasonable. There's a pool table if you're interested in playing a...
