We have been Spoons fans since it opened in Campus West. And I mean FANS! The Link Lane locale has been our go-to for quite some time. Pre-Covid and pre-rearranging of front counter checkout and menu changes would have gotten this destination consistent 5 stars every time. Not anymore. The efficiency has gone downhill since the counter rearrangement. Today, ordered online for me to pickup. System said 20-25 minutes! I walked in and there was one or two tables with people already eating. ONE employee was making food. I saw no one else. We had 3.5 salads, one cup soup and 4 focaccia pieces in the order. I was about 7 minutes early. I waited and waited. I finally see another employee taking inventory. WHAT?? By this time, my order should have been ready and I should have been gone. (I was actually shocked that the system told me that long considering the place was dead.)
I catch her attention and ask about my order. It's sitting on the counter, "ready to go" yet not packaged or delivered to the pickup rack. It has been left there without being completed, for some reason. She loads up the bag. I watch her pack each focaccia piece (has been sitting on some kind of wood looking surface without being covered!! and no type of covering around) and put the order in a big bag. No 1/2 Caesar salad. I catch that mistake before I leave and she had to make it. Puts each ingredient in the salad without tossing (I don't catch that). A Caesar salad that isn't tossed overwhelmed with croutons such that Mom had to take most of them off the lettuce to just eat the salad. The other salads were good and fresh. The Focaccia bread was neither. Spoons used to have lovely, very fresh, easy to chew bread. Today I had to tear off all sides of my bread before eating.... Cuz it's been LEFT out, uncovered. All 4 pieces were like this. I noticed this the last time and hoped that it was a one-off. Apparently not...
Hubby and I used to have date night at Spoons, we were here almost every week. The bread just isn't what it was, often multiple chilis are offered for soups, which do vary in the saltiness, the combo meals are gone, and the service ain't what it used to be. We are sad and sorry...
Won't be...
Read moreThis whole place seems like a facade. I assumed the franchise name "Spoons" means wholesome goodness for my aching tummy, but was left with an enpty feeling belly and unamused tastebuds.
My friend got a sandwich that was cheap but the quality was at least as poor. I got some soup and salad and tried five soups, before I realized there is nothing there that I was particularly interested in and everything was either too salty or not salty enough.
The pork was a little bit too grizzly for me and the employee behind the counter seemed inexperienced. There's no Lids on the soups or any of the vegetables and you can see that they're oxidizing. To be honest I should have went with my gut feeling and not even ordered.
The employee forgot that he offered to sample the soups when I said I thought to probably go with the potato he just grabbed the bowl not even offering the sample and then when I mentioned I didn't want that soup for sure, he just dumped it back into the pot, which I'm pretty sure is illegal.
From the experience at this spoons I'm afraid that were just dealing with another commercial franchise who doesn't care about its employees, has a high turnover rate and pretends to provide something which frankly nowhere meta my personal...
Read moreWe have eaten at Spoons A LOT in the last few years. Specifically the Link Lane location. We would even stock up on our favorite soups to freeze for lunches later in the week. If this review was two years ago, it would be a solid 5 stars. However, today's meal might be the reason we don't return. Totally understandable to have one thing that disappoints in an order, but today's lunch was horrible all around. 1) They got rid of their soup/salad/sandwich combos for lunch. It was such a great option for lunch, especially when you couldn't decide between two of your favorite items. 2) The focaccia bread was terrible. Not sure if it was leftover from yesterday or just way over cooked. The entire piece was hard in general and rock hard on the edges. 3) The chicken on my sandwich was dry and completely flavorless. If I didn't know it was on there, and didn't know what it was suppose to be, I would not have known it was chicken. I couldn't even finish my lunch, it was just that disappointing. Not sure what happened to this Spoons location. This was once a place we raved about to local friends and a place we would get takeout from on a regular basis. For the price, I just don't see us...
