We went to the one in Fort Worth, Tx and the customer service was amazing and the food, beyond our expectations. We did not have the same experience here in Colten, CA. First, this was our first visit and we were shopping and looking around after we walked in. The African American female hostess saw us looking/shopping the bear feet slippers and rudely asked, "Are you coming?" No we are shopping. Not even a hello. Not anything welcoming. If employees don't want to be in customer service then why are they here? We had not even asked to be seated yet. Then our male Hispanic waiter couldn't understand us while taking our order. He wasn't welcoming either. Not a hello. No name. We had to repeat our order SEVERAL times. Please speak English!! It's kind of necessary here in America when taking an order. I specifically asked for gravy on my mashed potatoes. I did not get it. So I had to get up and go to the kitchen. The waiter never came back AT ALL. HE DISAPPEARED. A nice young Hispanic girl, Sam, came to check on us. Thank you Sam, as you seem to be the only one here with great customer service. You deserve our waiters tip!
To add, the corn on the cob had some type of butter spread seasoning that made me sick. Took one bite and spit it out. Regular corn on the cob please with butter on the side. We don't need all the extra toxic seasoning.
The country chicken fried steak tasted greasy. I thought all locations would use same ingredients and same ways of seasoning, but now I realize this is not true unfortunately. I like the original country way of cooking. Less seasoning is always better. If I want more...
Read moreMy first experience with Black Bear Diner was great. Two other times I went to a closer location by Arrowhead hospital and noticed the prices were $2-3 more (less friendlier service at this one). After going there and looking at the menu more deeply, I realized the prices are very high. $9 for oatmeal, $16 for a sandwich and fries. The less food portion selections are probably half the amount of food but definitely NOT half the price! (check for yourself). Service was just okay, not as friendly [bringing just what u ordered except for the table syrup kind of service] and they messed up on our order twice. Plus the newspaper menu is cute but definitely not user friendly or easy to read. Tiny small letters, no pictures, it's disposable but not to the waiters! They will snatch that menu and pass it on to the next bear victim! Took my wife for her birthday and she got the worst of the service from the waitress. I sense they only listen to half of what people say: my son's order was wrong too. Not a very pleasant Birthday lunch - we won't mention birthday to them (someone else had a birthday there and they hibernate during singing clapping maybe) I guess to me it's probably a one time visit place to experience. "Bear-ly not enough" for this place to try and satisfy my family's needs and rather experience a "bear" in my wallet! If I ever go back again it definitely will be the one in Moreno Valley where their prices are less and have...
Read moreI went for brunch with my kiddos. We normally go to Dennys but wanted to change it up a bit with them. My oldest enjoyed his Cub pancake 🥞dish with a strawberry 🍓 bow tie. He loves strawberries so that was a kicker for him. 😆 the small things - anywho - my other little one said his pancake was cold and wait for the waitress to come back to ask her to put it in the microwave pls. Lol. My dish - the chili soup was ok. I’ve had better but it was average. It was ok. The corn bread that came with it was Luke warm and no fluffy or flavorful and by the end of the meal tasted stale. It was really unfortunate. 🥺 I ordered some egg whites and avocado 🥑 on the side to try to spice it up on a healthy side but the avocado was rubbery and had no flavor and the egg white has a bad stench to them. So I murdered by chili soup by adding it in. I should have tasted and tested before hand. My fault. But overall the service was great. Our waitress was excellent and atmosphere non busy and calm. Love the bears 🐻 all around and made for good conversation with my boys. Maybe I just chose wrong dishes or this place just isn’t for healthy people looking for a refreshing meal. More like a cheat...
