Sunday afternoon late lunch around 2pm was quickly shown to a table and the hostess brought water and silverware along with the menus promptly. Our server showed up and then took drink orders and then left. The drinks came and she then took our food orders..... Time marches on 45 min later our food arrived as ordered for everyone in our party except my "french fries" were warmish. 1st Note: not many full tables and the people there all ready had their food I asked the manager later why she said they were and I quote "slammed" interesting we thought because there were people seated after us who received their food way before us 2nd note: French Fries are actually cottage fried potatoes not really the same type of fried potatoes since my wife is highly allergic to any fish products we asked for a substitute for the "french fries" and was told she could have the mac and cheese which was fine except they didn't tell us it would cost us the same as if we ordered the mac and cheese! 3rd Note: saying they had to charge that much because each order is made individually ..... we know from experience the mac and cheese is made in big pans. The manager didn't offer to reduce the price a little and when you pay $50 for two hamburgers, and a couple of non alcoholic drinks the added $5 was a bit too much Was also told at that time I could have gotten freshly cooked "french fries" by asking our waitress, that would have been fine except she didn't ask how our meal was until we were almost finished eating. I would say the burgers were good, wife thought mac and cheese was ok but the prices were those of eating at a 5 star restaurant with full service. All in all this was a very disappointing outing there are other restaurant business in the area that...
Read morePopped in after a ski day. The staff was friendly and our server was very helpful. The ambience was comfortable and warm. Lots of staff standing around having personal conversations, but it seemed to be the norm and all the customers seemed content. We ordered the chicken sandwich as recommended by our server. It came on a smaller sized plate with lots of delicious sliced potato fries. The flavors were great. The only bummer was the assembly of my meal. The kitchen staff buried the chicken in so much sauce that before I had my 3 rd bite, my sandwich completely fell apart and my fries were wading in a plate full of sauce. This made them soggy and we weren’t able to finish them. Which was a bummer because it was all so tasty. I also couldn’t finish my sandwich as presented because the bottom bun was soaked through. We were forced to disassemble and discard and had to use a fork and knife. It’s a shame because we left food on our plate drenched in sauce. I was hoping the server would have noticed when she cleared our plates but she didn’t. We had dessert which was a perfect portion and tasty. Consistency is key. We will try them again. Maybe the kitchen staff was just off that day. The ingredients and flavors were awesome, too bad it was one persons lack of attention to assembly that soaked an otherwise yummy plate of good food! The beer flavors went great with the food and we were pleased with our recommended choices, the stout is delicious. Going to bring my...
Read moreI was also at the restaurant when the patron (below describing her experience with masks) was getting talked to by her waiter/host and manager. I was enjoying a meal outside with my partner at the table directly next to them when it all occurred. It is inaccurate that 3 other parties left. Delusional actually. I saw one couple leave with them and that is all. I also overheard the whole interaction and as being a waitress myself was appalled. It is their policy to enforce their mask policy and that’s exactly what they did. It is stated on every door and entry so I don’t see how there could be a misunderstanding. Instead of being cordial and understanding of their policies the customer decided to debate with the manager and make the waitress feel even more uncomfortable. If you are uncomfortable wearing a mask or following the restaurants policy it is in their discretion to allow you to stay or not. After this interaction I couldn’t help but gain more respect for the owners/managers of Backslope for standing up for their employees in such a way. Good work.
Also, delicious meal. Sunshine burger is the way to go (even if you’re not...
