Dave’s Hot Chicken located in the heart of Columbia is a food chain restaurant that offers cooked to order chicken. I was so excited to try Dave’s Hot Chicken, due to all of the fantastic reviews. When arriving be prepared to park in close quarters, the parking lot is pretty small and the spots are narrow. I went around noon and there were still spots available, but it was limited. If it is a nice day you can sit outside but they also offer tables and booths inside. I loved the decor inside. It was lively. When walking in we were greeted with friendly staff who were eager to assist us. I was so pleased because I was unsure how the ordering process worked, but it was extremely easy. I ordered the mini chicken sliders that came with a side of fries. If you sign up for the rewards app, like I did. You will get a free drink and if you complete the survey at the end of your order you will get an additional free drink, which is awesome. Our service was extremely good, even though we were in the midst of a lunch rush. All of Dave’s chicken is fresh and cooked to order. One will receive a pager and it will buzz when your order is ready. I like this because it makes your experience more personal. Our meal was delicious, the chicken was so moist and the breading flavor was fantastic. One special feature Dave’s Hot Chicken offers is you get to decide what spice level you would like your chicken. I decided to do no spice, due to my daughter not having a spice tolerance, but have heard amazing reviews of Dave’s chicken with the spices on it. In addition our meal came with coleslaw and fries that were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Although Dave's is a fast food restaurant the establishment was extremely clean with no visible dirt on the floor. Read morePlaced a take-out order on the app. When we went in, it was busy, so we waited for the counter to clear up. The woman at the register made no effort to help myself or the other two of us waiting. The young lady expediting food eventually attempted to help us after an long wait. Apparently, a power outage had affected the store when we placed out orders so they never went through. Fair enough. She goes to get her manager to resolve this. Alright. The manager looks at the online receipts we had then tells us they never went through. No offer to make the food, no attempt to personally process a refund. Just tells us they didn't go through and we have to request a refund ourselves. Okay, but neither the app or website have a way to do so. So can we get our food? No, because it didn't go through. She repeated this line over and over as if that prevented her from just having the food made. You know, the thing any reasonable and customer-focused manager would do. She just said that since it didn't go through, she wouldn't get credit. Over and over she repeated this while I and two other customers just wanted our food. When we explained we would have to file a charge back, she acted like this was a totally acceptable and prompt solution. It is not. I was very irritated at this point and she had the audacity to tell me to lower my voice as if I was yelling, which I was not . She claimed to be respectful even though she had done nothing to alleviate the situation. She does not need to be the manager of anything and whoever operates this store needs to reconsider who they make a manager. I love the food here but this experience really ruins any desire to return knowing this is how they handle issues. In the end I never got my food or a refund, and left thoroughly upset after speaking to a broken record player...
