I'll start by saying the service was great and the club sandwich I had was really good. I am a pretty good judge because I've owned a bar in the past and currently own a sandwich shop. But that is the least of the things I have to say. This is going to be long so I apologize but I just need to get this off my chest. I'm not from here. I live outside of Asheville NC. My brother loves her, or I guess I should say lived. He just dies from cancer a couple of weeks ago. I was here to witness the last couple of weeks and I'm back now to packed up his house and get it sold. He was a paramedic his whole life and for the last 39 years at Fort Jackson. Anyway, I have been packing up his place for the last several days and I just needed a break. I searched for bars close to his place and found Henry's. I jumped in the truck to get away and found myself there. It reminded me so much of the bar I used to own. Just a small local bar run by local people. I sat at the bar and immediately felt at home. I suck at names so I don't remember the name of the nice young lady that greeted me. I think it started with a B. She was very nice and made me feel at home even thought it was right near the end of her shift. As I sat there and watched the clientele come and go I could tell it was a place where people really knew each other. They made me felt like a friend as the bartenders switched shifts and RJ and Jake (sorry if I get the names wrong) took over. Anyway I had a great conversation with the couple next to me that I believe were Jake's parents maybe.Jake and I had had a quick conversation about being long suffering Atlanta sports fans, but most importantly I was able to put aside all the grief that has consumed me for a couple of hours. So that you to Henry's for giving that to me when I really needed it. I know how hard the grind of running a small business can be and I hope this gives you a brief affirmation that what you do does really impact people's life in ways you probably never realize. So thank you again and if I get another chance to swing in before I leave this area for good then I will look...
Read moreThis place would be great for a DoorDash. That being said, personally I was not a huge fan of the entire experience.
The food was good, but I had the chicken and waffles and it was just covered in honey. Way too much. I also had the buffalo chip overload, I didn't even take a picture cause they were just not good. It's like they got really good home fries, and then just put 2 slices of super thick pimento cheese on top and melted it then put actually tasty bacon and jalapenos on top. It was just way too cheesy in one spot and not spread out. The hush puppies were awesome though, especially with that brown sauce! So good.
The reason I'll give this place a 3/5 is the service though. The guy wasn't rude or anything, he was fine. Just fine. But he was wearing just a regular T-shirt, no logo or anything. In my opinion it looked really unprofessional for just some guy to walk up to me and take my order.
For atmosphere I don't really have an opinion. Sports bars are whatever. A few mid 40s women walking around I guess. It was funny watching the bartender super try hard on mixing because there was a lady in front of him.
I feel like if I ordered something else or came on a different day I would have a different opinion, but that is not the...
Read moreA friend and I recently had a good time at Henry's (about a week or so ago).
With most places closing early during these times of Corona, it's one of the few places still open late with good food available (until 12am). My friend is currently adapting to a meatless diet and I'm desperately attempting to maintain an ideal weight right now (le struggle y'all. le. strug-gle.🤦🏽♀️).
However, to my surprise Henry's managed to provide a few options to choose from 🤗. My friend ordered the grilled veggie wrap (omitted a couple veggies tho-smh) and I decided to try the shrimp po'boy.
Now here's where it gets magical, the food we ordered was ready in what had to be like 5 mins!!! Idk if it's bc it was kinda late or bc it was veggies and shrimp but either way I was astounded (the Hermione in me was quite impressed) Ooh and the fries!! Naturally cut and cooked to perfection.
I INHALED my food before I even thought about snapping a pic for y'all lol it was soo good!
The drinks were great and our waitress was pretty friendly.
Be sure to check out Henry's for those late Corona nights (or any hungry night) #coronanights #allveggiesmatter
