We stopped in to try this wonderful new venue in Columbia. Let me start by saying, wow! We were greeted warmly at the door. Michael, the owner, introduced us to the venue, his ideas for the restaurant and the "coming soon" song writers round. To say I am excited about what this location will add to Columbia is an understatement. We started with a couple of signature cocktails. These were spot on. They were a bit backed up at the bar and so they took a while to get to the table. Worth the wait. Alex, our server, was fantastic. He was conversant, told us about the restaurant and the coming plans, explained the menu and gave us great recommendations. He was perfectly attentive through the evening, balancing making sure we had what we needed with not being over-attentive. Our appetizer was the Burrata. It was fantastic. Drizzled with balsamic and some pistachios. The crostini were well toasted but still soft in the middle. Home run. For dinner we ordered the shrimp and grits and the brisket tacos. Big shout out here for supporting other local businesses. The brisket on the tacos is supplied by Bobbie and April at Boot Stompin BBQ in Columbia. I love that! I will say that I eat shrimp and grits a lot. My favorite for years has been The Pink House in Savannah GA. Well, not anymore. If you like shrimp and grits, don't miss this, just don't! The brisket tacos were fantastic as well. Instead of selecting one of the sides of the regular sides, we ordered the deviled egg flight from the appetizer menu. Four different preparations and all of them were delicious. For dessert, we got the cookiedough flight. It is served with a chilled glass of milk. We also added a espresso martini to the pairing. These were good and the presentation was awesome. I am very tickled to say that at the end of the evening, after before dinner cocktails, appetizers, dinner, cocktails part deluxe, and dessert, the cost of the meal was well below my expectations. This is a gem! Come out and support this fantastic local establishment! I live 25 miles away and can say I will be a regular here. Thank you Micheal, Alex and the rest of your amazing staff for a...
Read moreWe've been eagerly awaiting a visit to The Bourbon Gospel in Columbia, TN, since they first opened their doors, and we finally made it! Our anticipation was high, and let me tell you, it was more than met. We had the pleasure of attending on a Songwriter's Round night, and the atmosphere created by Michael and his incredible crew was simply unforgettable. The music was fantastic and perfectly complemented the evening. Our group of four made it a mission to sample as much as possible, ordering a variety of dishes and drinks to share. And honestly? Absolutely nothing disappointed. From the first bite to the last sip, every single item was a revelation. The food was perfectly seasoned and balanced, and the drinks were expertly crafted to complement the flavors. We thoroughly enjoyed every single bit of it. The Bourbon Gospel isn't just a meal; it's an experience. We're already planning our return trips and can't wait to bring all our friends and family to show off this gem for...
Read moreOH MY! Look here y'all, if you haven't been here, get here. Tonight was all new treats for us. Started with the baked gruyere puff pastry. It is so good I don't have language adequate to describe it. Just get it. The deconstructed lettuce wraps had tender, warm chicken, red cabbage in a vinegrette, lettuce leaves of course, and a fantastic sesame dressing. Something coming to the new, permanent menu is a bougie, sloppy joe. Its the fantastic brisket from Boot Stompin, BBQ in a sloppy Joe sauce created by the amazing chef, Patrick, served slider style with cheese and pickles and a side of Mac and Cheese. For dessert, Micheal took some Elijah Craig to Pie Sensations on the square and said, "make me something special". Let me tell you, the bourbon, bacon pecan pie they came up with is out of this world! OH MY!
Mariah, our server, was wonderfully personable and took great care of us.
Michael, as always, is the consummate host. Do yourself a favor, visit...
