The online reviews for Pie Sensations are polarizing, either exalting the praises of this award-winning pie shop with a five-star review or panning the place for being overrated. Realistically, I think it ranks somewhere in between, hence the four stars. At $8.78 per slice. including tax, the quality matches the price considering the cost of ingredients these days.

Pie Sensations has quite the reputation in Middle Tennessee. It's located on the southwest corner of the adorable, vibrant square in Columbia, sandwiched between A Balloon Shop and Daniel's Barber Shop. You won't see the sign until you walk right up to the store. Delicious smells of baking pies fill this charming, deceivingly roomy space with a counter in front of the tiny kitchen, a display case, and a few tables. Personally, I'm a pie crust hater as it's often brittle and flavorless. But the crust at Pie Sensations is really good, perfectly flaky and complementary to the pies. I actually at the entire crust which is rare!

There are two types of pecan pie in this world. Some prefer the rigid, thicker filling. Others like a gooey, almost liquid interior. While I prefer the thicker version, the very runny pecan pie at Pie Sensations was admittedly tasty, although not my preferred texture. It's properly sweet but not overly done with high quality and very fresh ingredients. The chess pie has that quintessential flavor of a southern classic, maybe not sweet enough for my taste but delicately balanced flavor for all palates.

Their top seller, the chocolate turtle pie, was a bit too chocolatey for my personal preference. But again, the quality is obvious with a thick chocolate filling topped with caramel and pecans. While I wouldn't drive the hour from Nashville to Columbia again just to eat a slice of pie at Pie Sensations - unlike other remarkable destinations to which I'll eagerly drive three or four hours - I would encourage anyone near Columbia to sample this delicious and expertly made product! If you're in the area, it's a nice stop...

Update 1 year later- as delicious as ever! I love that they have cupcakes, cookies, caramels and fudge- lots of little sweets to eat when you stop in to grab a pie or cake for your family gathering. Atmosphere is clean and cozy. Sweet employees and beautiful decor. They partner with lots of area artists, businesses and organizations as well. This place is definitely a community staple!

Original Review: Loooove this cute little pie shop! Family owned and operated, they make a huuuge assortment of pies and sweets- all of them delicious. My personal favorite is the Dutch Apple pie, with Banana Cream Pie a close second. They also have homemade seasonal items- whoopie pies, toffee, caramels, and fried pies. Make it a point to visit this gem the next time you're in the area! You...

This is a quaint little shop with quite a bit of character. The thrust of their business seems to be selling complete pies for takeout. However, they did provide a rather large assortment of single slices for those that might like to sit down and enjoy. We stopped in on a Thursday afternoon as it was probably nearing closing time but they. still allowed us to enjoy the pie at our leisure. Pecan is my favorite, so I did enjoy that. It was as good as any I’ve ever eaten where my companion took the chocolate pecan pie and she was a little less Enthusiastic. Nonetheless, the food was overall excellent. I suspect it’s really fun to be there when the pies are all fresh and the flavors are mixing...

Called today and asked if they had a Strawberry Rhubarb. The lady who answered was so sweet and said she didn't but offered to make one. The customer service is over the top. I really appreciate it and will definitely be ordering from this place again. Absolutely delicious! Thank you very much!

Damn fine pie! We love this place, and will be picking up a pie to take back home to Portland, Oregon! Lovely service, nothing but friendly faces, and wonderful southern hospitality. There is an outdoor courtyard to sit and enjoy your pie if you wish. There is lots of indoor seating as well.

Got two slices of pie but didn't see the prices anywhere and was very shocked when the total was over $18 for two slices of pie. Got chess and turtle pie, they were good but not great and definitely not worth $8 a slice.
