BIBIBOP Asian Grill — Restaurant in Columbus

Bibibop has been a long time favorite spot of mine on campus and I come and eat here very regularly! The food is consistently great and I have never had anything but positive service experiences in the restaurant. The staff members are kind, quick, and hard working. I appreciate that they inform you if something like an extra topping will cost extra as you are ordering, as many food businesses do not give customers this same courtesy. As someone who does not live with a disability, I have not paid much attention to the restaurant's accessibility in the past. On my last visit, however, I closely observed the restaurant through the lens of accessibility and considered how it might serve individuals with different types of disabilities.

While I love Bibibop, I must admit that there are some serious accessibility issues in and around the restaurant, particularly for individuals with physical disabilities. The only parking near the entrance is paid street parking, which is limited to very few spots, none of which are marked as designated accessible parking spots. The few spots that are present there are very close to the entrance, but again, very limited in number and difficult to parallel park in. The door at the main entrance of the restaurant is not super wide and does not have ADA push buttons for automatic opening, which could make it very difficult for wheelchair users to enter the establishment. An even bigger issue is that once you enter the restaurant, an immediate set of stairs stands between customers and the line to order food. If wheelchair users came to the restaurant alone, they would likely be very disheartened to realize that they have no way to get up the stairs to actually enter the restaurant and navigate to the food line.

Once up the stairs, there are seating options and tables at varying heights, which is a good accessibility feature for individuals with physical disabilities. There is an elevator in the restaurant, but it is marked 'staff only'. There was pretty loud music playing in the restaurant, which could be upsetting for individuals with sensory disabilities. On a positive note, there are accessible bathrooms, with door handles that could be utilized by individuals with disabilities due to their design.

While I understand that there is only so much establishments can do to ensure complete physical accessibility on a place like High Street, they should do whatever they can to ensure the setting is accessible...

As I went to BIBIBOP the other day, I was noting the low accessibility they have for our community. Entrance is a must to have to be able to get into a place and to give the place business. Unfortunately, on High Street, BIBIBOP didn’t have the best accessibility as of entrance. At the front door, not only there’s no activated automatic doors with being very heavy to open, but there’s stairs that goes up to the next level where you order which loses the point of easy access. The second access to the building (on the side) still didn’t have a ramp and was stairs. If someone with a wheelchair came to the restaurant, they couldn’t get to the floor to get their food. Although there’s a table on the small first level before the stairs, it’s a high top. Not only the entrance is difficult and those tables on first floor are high tops, but someone with a wheelchair is unable to sit at their table to eat because BIBIBOP chairs are permanently built into the floor. The process of ordering the food (if you are able to access it), has a lot of space to move. The customers were kind and guided me through the food. Although I can see the food, I appreciated how at each section, they say the food out loud to you which can be helpful to those that have difficulties in seeing or blind. Again, with those in wheelchairs, the drinking fountain is too high to reach. The lighting was dimmed, but the music was way to loud and can over stimulate those in this environment. I absolutely love my local Bibibop! Every visit is a delightful experience filled with fresh, flavorful, and healthy options. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by a clean and welcoming atmosphere, along with friendly staff who are always eager to help.

The food at Bibibop is simply fantastic. I love the variety of ingredients available to customize my bowl just the way I like it. From the perfectly cooked rice to the fresh vegetables and delicious protein options, everything is top-notch. The sauces are the perfect finishing touch, adding just the right amount of flavor to every bite.

What truly sets this Bibibop apart is the consistency in quality and service. No matter how busy it gets, the staff maintain a high level of efficiency without compromising on the quality of the food or the customer experience. It's clear that they care about providing a great dining experience every time.
