• UPDATE BECAUSE THEY RESPONDED TO MY FRIEND AND ARE LYING* It was not a joke or else we wouldn’t have been pointed to go out the door. Also when we were outside I called the worker out and they did not say it was a joke they just said sorry. AND THEN the host still on the microphone said to the door worker the SAME THING “make sure you’re charging everyone a cover”. I’m really annoyed by the response. If it was a joke it would’ve been addressed while I was going off about how embarrassing it was TO THEIR FACE! REVIEW: Friends and I were walking past this establishment when a worker standing at the door said “free drag show” and we said oh really, awesome, let’s go! Even though we weren’t planning on stopping in we decided why not?! Well as soon as we got in, a performer or host got right in my friends face with a microphone announcing to the whole bar that we need to pay a $10 cover and essentially who do we think we are just walking in thinking it’s free. They went on a whole rant on the mic asking the audience to raise their hand if they paid a cover and that they don’t work for free. This was so embarrassing, hostile and unnecessary. It was incredibly overwhelming especially that it was put on blast to the whole bar it would be one thing if a worker who is not holding a mic with a spotlight on them were to ask us to pay but nope. Also the person standing outside said it was free and thats the whole thing that had us stop in! So their communication error put us in a really uncomfortable situation. We left and went to a nearby bar and ran into someone that said they had also just left there and that she was grabbed really hard by a worker and left when she saw what happened to us. This kind of hostile environment is the exact opposite of what the lgbt community needs right now. TLDR; come here if you want to get harassed in front of the whole bar...

Went to this bar to meet a friend for her birthday. The bartenders were friendly and the music was excellent after karaoke ended. It's a narrow bar, so when they host events like burlesque, it's not the best but I'd hang here on a normal night. The bathrooms are a little questionable on cleanliness. The bar's clientele seems mainly gender queer, so if you are comfortable with that you'll really enjoy yourself. Otherwise I'd recommend another bar.

My biggest complaint was even though I had been at the bar drinking for at least two hours to before the burlesque started, they still came up to us and charged us cover for the show. I've never heard of any bar doing this. Wasn't happy. Also, not happy when the bartender took my drink away which was sitting on the bar while I watched the show and I still had half a drink left. Bossy is a great local bar to have a nice drink at. The atmosphere is comfortable, the space small, and the crowd familiar. It is usually quiet, and the frequently changing house cocktails are a perfect blend of crafty and affordable. The beer selection is always interesting and satisfying as well. Occasionally the place hosts loud shows and burlesque, which depending on what you are into is a perk or an annoyance, but the majority of the time it is a friendly place for a low-key drink. There is never a risk in checking it out, as even when it has a stage show popping off there are no shortage of neighboring bars.
