Chef Chang's Asian Grill — Restaurant in Columbus

My wife and I ordered dinner from Chef Chang’s Asian Grill on the evening of June 2, 2025. What should’ve been a relaxing night turned into a disturbing experience.

The fried dumplings were excellent, but both the Sesame Chicken and General TSO’s Chicken were alarmingly off. The chicken was pale and rubbery, not golden or crisp like it should’ve been. What really stood out was the strong metallic, chemical-like taste — not like anything natural or spicy, just wrong. It left a strange aftertaste that lingered and didn’t match anything we’ve ever experienced from food before.

Within an hour of eating, we both began to feel nauseous. I felt clammy and lightheaded, and ended up vomiting. My throat and mouth also had a slight burning sensation, but this didn’t feel like normal spice heat — it felt more like irritation from whatever was in the chicken. My wife, who ate less, experienced milder symptoms but still felt queasy.

Wonderful restaurant. Ms. Chang is a lovely lady, and extremely friendly. The food is excellent, but what makes this an absolute 5 star establishment is the welcoming atmosphere that results from the presence of Ms. Chang. If It seems that I'm being overly complimentary of the owner, it's only because my experiences as a repeat customer of theirs has led me to feel this way. In all honesty, as a regular visitor of Columbus, I take advantage of every opportunity I can to visit Chef Chang's, and I cannot speak too highly of Ms. Chang, or their employees. They are kind, welcoming, and never fail to make me feel like I'm at home.

Do yourself a favor, and go get yourself some top-notch Asian food, and say hello to some of the most wonderful people...

Very clean and the wait is minimal. Good Asian food in a nice environment. Have eaten there regularly over the last 10 years. Always polite and friendly. Decent prices and servings. Open until 9 pm.
