El Rodeo sits at the end of the Giant Eagle shopping center on Stelzer Road just one mile south of Easton. It's my grocery store in my neighborhood, but I'd never been there until last night. I'm glad I finally went.
My girlfriend had been talking about us going, not because we're fans of Mexican food, but mainly because she wanted to have a local bar/restaurant to go to for an afterwork drink. The one thing she really loves is a Patron Margarita with a splash of pineapple.
So here's the good news... the place is great! 😊 The drinks were HUGE! The food was tasty and abundant! Unless you are a REALLY BIG EATER, I suggest that you order appetizers. They were plenty for us.
They have a nice spacious patio and during the age of COVID-19 almost everyone sat outside. And yet there was plenty of open space, in most cases people were able to sit far more that 6 feet apart.
But the one drawback to the restaurant is the patio sits on the edge of a retention pond in between the shopping center and the housing development next door. On a nice summer evening you can relax and enjoy the lights bouncing of the water. But during the day you find yourself wishing that pond was the refreshing turquoise blue of a beach with the sound of Caribbean Steel Drums in the background.

Read moreGooglers, the food here is amazing!!! The flavors make you wish you lived there to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The servers are amazing and super respectful each time I come with my students who mean the world to me. It is clean and arranged nicely.
This time, however, was VERY different. My server was not as involved as she should have been and I found myself needing to ask other servers for help. She gave me a bill that was for about $60 and I gladly presented my card. She came back with the receipt and it said $80 and some change. My eyes bulged! I went to the counter to ask what happened and the server said she forgot to add something on my bill. Imagine my frustration that a new bill wasn't presented so I could choose another card or simply be aware that the change was happening. THIS SERVER CHARGED MY CARD WITHOUT PRESENTING ME WITH A RECEIPT FOR THE NEW PRICE. This is very illegal and should not happen to you if you go there. If a receipt with the proper price is not presented they must charge the amount on the receipt they first showed. I may try again in the future.
Edit: I returned yesterday and the service has improved. The server was super pleasant and attentive! I’m so impressed! The food was still...
