Let me start out my saying, my friend and I have always been fans of Firebirds, frequented the Polaris location and couldn't wait for the New Albany location to open since we live on that side of town. This was our second visit to this location and both times have had issues. I was apprehensive even going after the last visit but thought I'll try it again. The first visit was just a cluster, with service and food; 2.5 hours to get our meals right and finally just settled with what was given to us. A steak was sent back 4 times and still wasn't right. Not alone undercooked (raw) scalloped potatoes and other issues; moving on -
Second visit, started off well, Troy, our server was amazing and went above and beyond! Received drinks and app.....waited and waited for our dinner (45 minutes minimum). My friend said her meal was amazing, but my steak was ice cold still can't figure out why except it was freezing in the restaurant. I hate sending food back to the kitchen not alone complaining but Troy took it back to the kitchen waited another half hour, told her to just charge me for my potato and forget the steak. A manager brings my steak within 5 minutes and I asked that they just take it back. They apologized, comped and boxed up the meal for me to bring home, thank you. There were at least 4 other tables that were seated when we were that hadn't even received their food when we left or they had them box it to go.
The kitchen has a lot of issues that still need worked out and we won't be back for a few months. From what I see from the reviews, it's hit or miss with the food so maybe some nights are better than others. I hope they figure it out; they charge way too much for the food that is being served and presented especially with all the other options in Columbus for steakhouses with superior and delicious food.
Till next time....
By the way Happy Birthday to our server Troy this week, I hope...
Read moreWe were so disappointed with our first experience here this evening. We made reservations for 745 pm. I had been out all day as my husband and both of us hadn't eaten since 130 pm so we were both excited to hit Firebirds locally close to our home as first time visitors.
The bartenders were excellent. Very much on top of their service and checking in on us all three of them no matter who was running on point as the lead. Our wine and cocktails were promptly filled along with our ask for two ice waters. Zero issues with our bartending staff as they were 100%.
We both ordered steaks for dinner. One 7 oz filet with blue cheese topping and fried spinach which admittedly, is not on the menu. Our bartender checked with the kitchen staff to ensure it could be made (the fried spinach - Polaris does it and so does the Cincinnati location). Thumbs up we're good. My husband ordered his NY Strip also medium like my filet with broccoli. Both were ordered with temp medium topped with bleu cheese.
We sat at the bar waiting for our dinner for almost 30 minutes. At one point, one of the bartenders shared they appreciated our patience so we knew they were slammed. All good for now.
When our meals were brought out, both steaks were rare. They were COLD. They must have sat there for a very long time. As I mentioned earlier, we both had long days and we were starving so we ate our meals. We were starving. Plus, it wasn't the bartenders fault our meals were substandard; this was the kitchen. Both came out very rare which is not what we had ordered.
The couple to my right - they were offered dessert. We were not. We were just issued the bill - interesting.
Super disappointed with this location considering it Is in our backyard. We hit up CRUMBL for dessert and picked up cookies for $25. The experience is everything and this location was so disappointing as this was our first time at this new...
Read moreI have been to a firebirds in the Orlando and Polaris areas and historically loved my experiences, so was super excited to see one coming in closer to home. We’d take a peek whenever driving by, and when we saw it was open, made a reservation for our anniversary dinner. I’ve been for celebratory dinners to other Firebirds locations in the past, so was excited to do the same again.
The greeters at the door were kind, but the experience fell short following that. The dining room was loud, and sounds of glasses breaking became something we counted due to how frequently it happened. Several servers checked on us since ours was busy when we first arrived which was great, and bread and water was quick. When our server did arrive, he never introduced himself and instead asked if we were ready. It’s not a big deal, but he also never asked if we were celebrating anything, which we did put in the reservation. Maybe I’ve grown accustomed to hearing that question when out to eat, so not hearing it when we did indicate it was a slight bummer.
When the food arrived, my husbands food came first and the food runner asked if I ordered anything. I let her know what I ordered, and she brought it shortly later. The order came with the incorrect sides, which she helped correct, and my salmon was warm but not hot, which I didn’t bring up. One of the managers came to apologize for the mixups and let us know it was their first week open.
Neither my husband nor I found the food to be as tasty as we remembered, which was why we were so excited for the opening. The vegetables for example were steamed but crunchy, with no flavor to them. Without lemon, the salmon lacked flavor as well. My husbands burger was overpowered by cheese. After our experience, we’ll no longer have Firebirds on our list when thinking where to eat out. It’s hard to get excited about paying $30 for a salmon entree when this is...
