Bad experience. Today i went to lunch with 3 other friends from work. We walked in and took an open table that could seat 4 people. After about 5 minutes, an employee approached our table and stated that the table was reserved and that we have to give it up. Mind you, there was no "Reserved" sign on the table that you normally see at restaurants when a table is reserved. And there was no "wait to be seated" sign at the entrance either. We took the open table based on previous visits by members of our party, during which they were told they can sit at any open table.
After we walked out, we called the restaurant to ask if they take reservations. They said they do not.
Today was to be my third visit to Hyderabad House. I liked their food from the previous two visits. But having two bad service experiences on those three visits, i dont think i will revisit any time soon again.
The first bad experience was during our first visit: it was also on a Friday like today. We were two on that visit. We both ordered their "non-veg thalis". It took them about 30 minutes to bring our thali.... and when they did, they only came with one thali. Upon telling them that we had two orders, they came out with the second thali close to 10 minutes later. The thali is supposed to be refilled with the curries. But no one checked on us. And as such there was no refill done at all. When we talked to them, they gave the excuse that they were short handed that day and did not have a manager on site.
We gave them the benefit of doubt for that first time and went back for lunch on a middle-of-the-week day for our second time. The place was not crowded on that day. And we got decent service. I liked the food on both those visits. I felt the food tasted authentic... like the food from the Telugu speaking states in India.
But after todays experience, i will pass on revisiting them any time soon (if i ever go back). They may be taking their customers for granted. For their own sake, i hope they improve their...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in Columbus! Located inside a grocery store, you might miss it if you're not looking for it.
There's plenty of parking outside, but limited but a decent amount of tables to sit at, and they also provide to-go services. We were a bit confused on ordering and for dine-in, you can order at the window if you know what you want, or you can sit and order and they bring it out when the order is complete. You can take a stroll around the grocery store after you eat as well, it's a good spot to find some gems!
We order a few dishes to share and a bread basket, and I recommend everything! Every dish was spiced well, flavorful, and delicious. Everything tastes authentic and quality made. All the dishes seemed like they took a lot of time and care to make. The chicken in the chicken dishes we got were tender and juicy! The dishes were also pretty affordable and they give you plenty of food and each entree comes with a side of rice.
Be careful what you order because if you can't tolerate spice well, but you can adjust your level of spice from mild to spicy, and we loved it. Definitely get their bread basket, so you can try 4 types. My favorite is the garlic naan, it's delicious.
Staff usuallycheck on us once or twice but if you need anything, you can walk up to the window. Staff are usually really nice and answer any questions. They provide bottles of water instead of cups and there are to-go containers available if you can't finish your meal. I recommend dining in because the food will come hot and fresh.
Definitely a hidden gem and so delicious! Visit and have a great meal. I recommend for small groups, tasty Indian food, and...

Firstly if you go for dine in and order food at the counter to avoid being late the lady at the counter doesn’t even pay attention to the coustmers order. I have order naan and chicken curry. She just entered only naan in the system and once naan arrived at the table we asked the guy he said “rudely” that you just ordered these and their was nothing else in the order. when we tried to tell him about our order he said it takes 15 mins and he got us the curry after 20 mins and the same old naans which became dry. This is one experience when we went for dine in
I have ordered a Takeout family pack biryani and curry the order was said to be ready in 25 mins and we arrived after 45 mins to collect it, again the same rude lady at the counter with no interest or respect she just said to pay the bill and I thought she was not in the right mood so silently paid the amount and then she with anger and rudeness told it will take another 15 mins after the payment is done. I know you guys think you are the only option for us for a decent food but customer do expect some respect at times when they are at your place.
But if you can’t train your staff about how to treat the customers ,better don’t serve food. I hope you guys are better at understanding customer insights and you will have these...
