First I was treated like a king. Let me just say the service was the best I had since I was in China. They took time with me to help me order because I was so overwhelmed. So they sent the cook over to me to help me make up my mind. I still couldn't so I told her to treat me like I'm your uncle coming to visit you from out of town and just bring me what you would do for him. Well let me tell you she started me out with warm cinna biscuits and I immediately saw the love. She suggested the orange juice and said it's sweet and fresh. Yep! She was correct. Moreover the coffee bar is always open. So far so good!. Good lord the fried took me back down south to my childhood. I felt like I was in my grandparents' home at age 10. I started bopping at the table like a child and then I remembered my dad would slap me on my leg for dancing at the table so I stopped. Grits grits and grits. My God they are Southern grits all day. I'm telling you after tasting them I swear I could smell my grandfathers farm. It took me that far back. The candy bacon was next. First there should be a fragrance that smells like bacon... I'm just saying. The bacon was perfect. Then it was the potatoes o' ryan. It's like a hash and it could have had more southern flavor. Maybe cooked with more bacon juice. The tatters were not too soft or hard. Like my grandfather would say "it eats good". Finally came the chicken and waffles. Dammmmmm! That waffle will make you smack 4 people in the face it was so good. My only gripe would be that they give you chicken strips instead of chicken parts. The bone in the chicken just kicks it up a notch. So I took away a star for that. However I gave it back because of the service. They treated me like a king. As always in closing is this a place I would bring a friend from out of town? As Steve Austin would say "hell yes" as a matter of fact I would drive out of town to pick them up just to bring them here. Moreover, I believe if I picked up one of the people on the side of the road with the sign anything will help and feed them here Their life would change. They would no longer be holding that sign. I promise. The other gripe would be the music. I could do with a better section but I didn't notice it until my belly was full of the goodness and I had to sit a while before I...
Read moreThe only decent part of my experience was the food. My order consisted of 2 Five & Dime sandwiches, one with sausage gravy and the other with shitake gravy, one order of sharable Smashbrowns, and two coffee beverages (a caramel iced mocha latte with sweet vanilla cold foam & a caramel iced toffee crunch latte with vanilla cold foam & caramel drizzle). The customization feature was a desirable factor in us choosing a new restaurant to visit. For us, the coffee is equally as important as the food. We ordered two coffees; we received FOUR cups. The lids indicated the contents were 2 cold brews, one caramel iced mocha, and one caramel iced toffee crunch. NONE of the drinks were correct, and they tasted like brown water (and looked abysmal). I've included the receipt to show what was ordered (versus what we got). To make matters worse, an elderly man was promptly greeted and assisted, but we were not addressed at all (we stood directly next to the aforementioned gentleman) until and after we decided to grab our order. In an attempt to use paper materials, this establishment used paper cups for the iced beverages that began to break down rendering the cups awkward and flimsy as well as the cup holder nearly unusable because of the condensation. From start to finish, this place seems to cater to a specific clientele and discards others. It may be a different experience if one dines in, but save yourself the frustration of visiting the Polaris (Columbus, Ohio) location and skip the carryout experience; better yet, find some other place to go where accuracy matters and customer service is paramount. There is too much competition out there to spend your hard-earned money at a place that doesn't value...
Read moreWe went for brunch over the weekend and it was AMAZING. Such a great first impression for us! It’s a little pricey, but you get a TON of food and it’s absolutely delicious so we found it to be worth every penny.
One of their ads/sponsored posts came across my instagram feed a few weeks ago and I knew I had to try them to see if it was actually as good as it looked AND I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. For once, the food in person looked just as incredible as it did in the ads and I honestly wasn’t prepared for how ridiculously good it tasted! Like, I hoped it would be nice, but I’m always nervous when going somewhere new. Everything was FANTASTIC.
I got the 5 and Dime, my husband got the country fried steak and biscuits with gravy, my eldest and youngest both ordered the chicken and waffles, and my middle teen ordered the firebird. We also got an order of the maple sausage meatballs with cranberry maple syrup to share and everyone had a glass of their freshly squeezed orange juice. Literally everyone was raving about how excellent everything was with pretty much every bite. We were all very impressed! Their biscuits are so tender, the gravy was to die for, the chicken perfectly crisp on the outside but juicy on the inside, and their waffles were wonderfully fluffy as well. The country fried steak was well seasoned and tender, and the sausage meatballs were sooo good with the cranberry syrup! DELICIOUS.
Overall, the restaurant was clean, the workers seemed happy and smiling, the service was great, the food had no right to be as delicious as it was, and we all left smiling. We will DEFINITELY be...
