Mr V's BBQ — Restaurant in Columbus

Sadly we did not enjoy our meal despite everything looking good.. The ribs and rib tips were under cooked, smelled and tasted like lighter fluid. Everything lacked seasoning. The black eye peas were watery and flavorless. The greens looked and tasted like they came straight out of the can. The potato salad was lacking some serious flavor. The Mac and cheese was dry and nasty. The cornbread was good and slightly sweet. The chicken dressing was also good and had nice flavor. The gravy that came with the dressing was not good at all . I'm happy it came on the side. The food was expensive and not good....

Damn good ribs! I highly recommend the ribs (with sauce!) and the baked beans. I dropped in just before the close of business. I feared the ribs might be dry after cooking all day. To my delight (and as promised by the man at the counter), the ribs were moist, full of smoky flavor, and the sauce was superlative. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. The baked beans were sweet and had a touch of a hot spice. Just a touch but enough that you feel it. The shop is just a little place which allows the employees/owners to be so warm and welcoming. I had a completely different experience this 2nd time visiting Mr.V’s. This time I asked for the sauce on the ribs and was shocked at how dry they were. These are clearly old ribs that no amount of sauce will redeem. The mac and cheese was shameful. I tried patronizing this business and ordered their black eyed peas w/okra (there was no okra btw)that was served in a 4 oz. Cup at a reasonable $4.90!!!
