I am writing to inform you of my absolute disappointment in my experience at seventh son this evening. I am a long-standing customer, and even held my sisters wedding shower at seventh son. We fell in love with your space many years ago, and have continuously been disappointed with the service of your bartenders. I have actually emailed before regarding this issue, following my sisters wedding shower, when we attempted to celebrate this huge life event afterwards with a beer and were treated with blatant rudeness and disrespect. You were more than accommodating to that experience, and we attributed it to just a one time event. Each and every time, we venture back, hoping for a different experience. I am sad to say I will never spend another dime at seventh son after my experience this evening. On multiple occasions, your bartenders have been downright rude and hateful towards me and my family. We are not rude or hateful, we ALWAYS tip well, we are respectful and kind. This evening, after seeing a post on your Instagram story featuring caramel apple cider, we decided to stop by on our way home to see if this was already available. Upon asking your bartender (notably the man in short shorts with a great mustache) “hello! Do you have any ciders?” He responded in a rude tone “no. We have never had any ciders and never will.” I told him I had seen the feature on your Instagram story to which he responded “I have no idea what you’re talking about. We have never had ciders and never will.” in an extremely rude tone. Side note- I consumed and ADORED your warm cider several years ago with the delicious cinnamon sticks. I proceeded to order two glasses of rose, and thanked him. There was no reciprocal response what so ever. An annoyed smirk, at best. Great mustache short shorts guy has, on multiple occasions, treated me like an absolute dumbass for asking about cider. He is not the only bartender with remarkable attitude, however. Another notable day ruiner is the pretty younger woman with brown, curly hair. However, it is the entire staff, and their overal unkind attitude toward myself and other family members/friends as customers, creating this atmosphere of hate. I want to inform you of this situation because I am 100% certain there are others like me. Our family has supported your business for many years, and sadly have had enough of this treatment. Your awesome beer is just not worth it. On Friday night, when we go out for a beer to celebrate and wind down our week, we hope for a space with friendly, helpful, and kind people. We are willing to sacrifice quality of product over quality of human beings we encounter. This type of treatment I would not expect or tolerate from any human in my life, and certainly not someone I am expecting a purchaseable service from. I am very sad to share this, and have hesitated many times in doing so. Seventh son has great potential, but we fear may slip through the cracks with several other, kinder environments to visit in Columbus, Ohio. Granted, we will miss your beer, but you have truly left a terrible, lasting taste in our mouths. My hope is that this will guide and motivate you in your venture to create a loving atmosphere in your beautiful space. We hope the best for seventh son, but will no longer be recommending to friends nor supporting. We hope that this advice is taken to heart, and that you will take an honest, objective look at the staff you have entrusted to guide and enhance your business, and their hateful treatment toward your well-meaning customers. We wish the very best for you, always.
Be mindful, a VERY minimal amount of kindness spreads far a wide. A minimal amount of hatred does the very same. What message do you intend to send...
Read moreOverall: fantastic.
Their beer, across the board, is vibrant and unique in a way that's not trying too hard to stand out, which to me seems to be a common theme in the craft beer movement; being weird for the sake of being with no regard to the taste buds. Just the right amount of weird.
They clearly put thought into the recipes. Every flavor that I've had, whether or not I care for the taste has a very distinct flavor profile and a unique type of dance and spread on the palate.
Prices are excellent. At the time of writing this review, it's about $5 a pint, give or take. Some of the beers are 12+% ABV, so if you're looking for a buzz on a budget, and don't want to do it at home, you can certainly do that here.
The ambiance is nice. It's clean and urban. There's an outdoor seating area with a fire pit for those frigid Columbus nights. Fire and beer is a pretty good combo, and a great way to relax and socialize.
There's always a different food truck parked outside, so if you get hungry, you can sample a taste of Columbus cuisine without having to leave. You might get lucky and be there long enough for a truck transition.
They also have some nice 7th Son gear for sale. You can buy shirts, sweatshirts, shot glasses, growlers and some other related items without breaking the bank.
Room for improvement:
Service: Everyone is nice enough, but I think they could do with a little more friendliness. They're not rude, just not very warm.
Outside: I think it'd be nice to have a little covering for the outside area to cut down on wind.
Customer: It's basically a hipster magnet, so if you don't mind being around a lot of beards and irony,...
Read moreSeventh Sons Brewing in Columbus, Ohio, is a delightful gem that offers a warm and inviting atmosphere for craft beer enthusiasts. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by a cozy ambiance with wood accents, leather sofas, and a spacious patio adorned with warm fires and soft lighting. The large window overlooking the brewing area provided a fascinating glimpse into the craft beer-making process. We decided to settle in at the bar and indulged in a couple of their exceptional IPAs. The flavors were truly remarkable, so much so that we couldn't resist the urge to take some home. While the merchandise selection was limited, we were pleased to find a few souvenirs to commemorate our visit. The friendly and knowledgeable staff was a highlight of our experience. They were eager to share information about their other locations and the local beer passport program. One of the most charming aspects of our visit was encountering their adorable feline mascot, the assistant manager cat. We were lucky enough to spot him lounging behind a door and couldn't resist the opportunity to give him a few pets. Seventh Sons Brewing provided a fantastic start to our brewery tour in Columbus. The combination of a welcoming atmosphere, exceptional brews, and friendly staff made it a memorable experience. We can't wait to return and explore more of their...
