Hello, I've never done anything like this before, so I'm a little bit nervous. But I've never let that stop me in the past! Oh, quick note, English is my first language, so please excuse any mistakes I might make! Now off of my soapbox, and onto the review!!!
Hi, I recently had the satisfying experience of dining at "Sushi Time" located on N. High St. It was easy to find - even in spite of having to use a 1-way street which I had only done a few times in the past. The environment was clean & well maintained, and the staff were friendly and empathetic. We received our drinks quickly upon being seated, and I genuinely felt as welcomed here as I would at cousin Randy's barn, where we host our annual family corn hole tournament.
The menu is very diverse; offering various styles of sushi, appetizers, as well as alCHOLIC BEVERAGES. tHE SUSHI IS THE ABSOLUTE STAR OF THE SHOW! If I were to sum up my opinion of their sushi in one word, it would be one word: YUM! My mortal body was edged nearer to the infinite blackness of the void in such a way that I never before would have believed possible. You simply must get the All You Can Eat option: it's such an incredible value!
One last thing before I go... The restaurant is conveniently located by a bus stop. At least 3 times, the bus would make its stop, cutting out the sunshine leaking in through the east facing windows. This created a COTA bus ambiance that I found most serene.
If you've never been, you must go! I will remember you all in my dreams. May you find what it is you're...
Read moreSushi Time is a great place but some work on the execution is needed.
There is a small parking lot in the back but it's shared with the other businesses around Sushi Time and can get confusing.
You have the option to choose from a regular menu or an all-you-can-eat menu which has much fewer items but is obviously a buffet.
Price wise, all-you-can-eat lunch is $15 a person. Ala Carte rolls are between $6-$20 depending on the specials. Not too pricey as long as you can stick to one menu type.
The quality always amazes me. The rolls especially are made to order even the buffet rolls are hand rolled with high quality ingredients.
Now the issues.
TIME. A well known problem at this point, I know that the rolls are made to order so a slowdown is expected. Today I went in at 1 pm and wasn't served until around 2:40 pm. An hour and a half is way too long especially considering there were only 2 other people in the restaurant when I sat down. The waitress also let me know it was last call for the all-you-can-eat because it was almost 3 and no longer lunch-time. I ordered plenty enough on the first round but if I hadn't, I would have left upset.
In any case, the sushi is good quality and the all-you-can-eat is an amazing deal, just ve wary of wait times and what time of day...
Read moreThe only reason why this is a two star and not a one, is because their prices are admittedly very competitive, for the quantity of sushi you get. I used to not be picky about the quality, but after getting sick(see below), i'm beginning to question how they keep their prices so low compared to the other places in the area. The service is also terrible, but i'll the other google reviews cover that for me.
I used to love this place when they can have All You Can Eat a few years ago, which is no longer available. The quality was average (esp the tuna) but it didn't seem unsafe. Unfortunately it seems both quality and price have gotten worse in the last few years.
Thats okay right? No. Because the quality of the sushi is objectively subpar to other options in Columbus. This is what made the AYCE appealing. The sushi cannot be that bad right? No, because I have gotten diarrhea after eating here (which has lead to me writing this review). I am also not alone, as I have friends who used to eat here have had the same issue.
I have eaten at most sushi places in Columbus, and even the American ones like Fusion haven't made me sick. I will say I've had been here before with no issues (when they had AYCE), so your experience may vary than my last...
