Nice setting, friendly staff. Saw the immac. clean espresso machine, ordered a shot. Suffice it to say, the waitress was a little undertrained. When she began to prepare my coffee wirh a dirty portofilter basket, I quickly and politely told her I would like a water instead. Politely. Despite her poor preparation of my beverage. Which was very hard for me, as I abhor coffee abuse of any kind. My politeness was tested when the other counter girl asked me why I didn't want it, what was wrong with it! Not my job, lady. Sure I could have explained why, but that would not have resulted in a good coffee for me: I had just watched her step to the grinder and start to dose out coffee that was not fresh ground. Simple thing, coffee: water and one other ingredient. If you want to get a good coffee nowadays, don't be fooled by shiny, new expensive equiptment: watch the person preparing it! Here are some things to know if you want a good coffee out of a Batrista:
As of March 10th 2021 our great governor of Texas declared the mask mandate had been lifted. This restaurant has big signs outside the door mandating a mask while in the restaurant except when seated. What difference does it make if a person is seated or standing and they are sick? No difference. Masks don't work, we've known it forever, long before covid, masks do not stop viruses. Stop mindlessly following the media. Use common sense, if you are sick stay home. The bully with the black mask, tall woman that works at this place, needs an attitude adjustment. We are adults and control our lives. The owner and workers must be weak minded people that believe everything they see on the TV. The people on the TV are reporting what the owners of the station want to say. It's all a fear and control issue for the Democrats. I don't like to go political BUT AC is running, people are sitting four at a booth and people are standing in line. There is no difference. The air is being circulated throughout the whole restaurant. Germs are flying everywhere and always have been. Take the silly signs down about masks. MASKS DON'T WORK. IF MASKS WORKED THE VIRUS WOULD HAVE BEEN GONE MANY MANY MONTHS AGO. Allow the citizens of our fine nation to choose if they want to wear a mask or not. Don't shame them into wearing them or go outside and order from a phone. These are your customers. Mask mandates are ridiculous. Your mother must have brow beated you and you believe what the TV tells you, just because. The food was ok, nothing special. I'm sure the locals like it. First and last time I will go here. I love my country but not people that try to control others, we live in a free republic. UPDATE: Move to California, you will fit in their with the rest...
Read moreWent for breakfast and the menu is simple, not too many options, but there is something for everyone. FOOD: I had the French toast with fresh berries. It was good and had 3 filling pieces with fresh berries. Our group of five's food all came out together, quickly and everything was fresh and plated nicely. My friends ordered the breakfast sandwich (really looked good! eggs how you like them cooked, bacon and cheese on fresh made bread), steel cut oats with fixings bar with berries and brown sugar and nuts, and one ordered a breakfast taco with egg, bacon and cheese. Tortilla was cooked there. Everyone said their plates were good. COFFEE: The coffee was fresh, not too strong and not weak, and there was not only sugar and cream to add but also cinnamon and cocoa and sugar in the raw. ATMOSPHERE & SEATING & SHOPPING: A group of ladies were meeting for cards and a group of men chatting and drinking coffee sat at the front and were friendly to us and said hello as we walked in the door. The atmosphere was simple and artsy. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. There are already some larger tables set up for more than just a party of 4 so you don't have to scoot tables and chairs to fit a crowd. They carry gift type items and books there as well. A kid's toy section with unique, nature and activity type toys. Gift cards, books, lotions and soaps. THE TOWN: Comfort is a really quaint, sweet town. The downtown area and High Street has different shops, restaurants and historical buildings and there is...
