I had been eyeing this place, waiting for it to open since I live just down the street. When I noticed it was open for business, I stopped in that day.
So far, I've had three things they offer.
The first trip was the wings with spicy Korean sauce and a chopped cheese sandwich. The wings were good. Crispy skin with juicy, tender meat. The saucy was spicy but from the taste alone, I wouldn't call it "Korean" in any way, or even Asian of any sort. It tasted a bit like Frank's Red Hot with a twist. It was still good, just not what I was expecting. The chopped cheese was what I really went in for though, and I was NOT let down. Now, I've never been to NY so I can't speak to what an authentic chopped cheese sandwich should taste like, but what I imagined it would, this one hit the nail on the head. The meat and cheese were a great combo and the bun had a good flavor and texture itself as well.
The other item I had was the MIPepperoni pizza. I ordered this the past weekend and it's one of the best pizzas I've had in a looooong time. It's a thinner crust (keeping with the NY theme), and the double pepperoni, sauce, hot honey, and oregano all work so well together. I definitely ate more than I should've that night, but I couldn't stop. I'm not usually an outer crust eater, but this was crispy and good, so it went down the hatch as well.
If I had to knock anything about the place it would be that the two times I've been in, it's been a little disheveled inside. The first trip had a dirty rag on the floor and crumbs on the table, and this last time there was a dirty pizza tray on one of the tables. It's probably a 99.9% carry-out place, but a little cleanliness goes a long way. They're also freshly open, so I understand if they are still working out the kinks.
I'm scoring on the food and the service, and both have been stellar so far and can't wait to taste the next thing I order. I'm sure it won't be too...
Read moreNot gonna lie, when my stepson wanted to order it for the Michigan game (2024 National Champs!), I was hesitant... hot honey on pepperoni pizza? I then told him it was my old-man-itis and we should try it. I am so glad I did!
We ordered two pizzas - pepperoni and carne; two subs - primo and cheesesteak; jalapeno stuffed bread; cheese arancini; and more... so we got a lot.
Absolutely everything was top notch. The hot honey didn't overstep its place on the pizza and actually brought a nice depth to the pepperoni. Usually an all meat pizza sounds better than it eats because it is so heavy, your mouth appreciates it but your stomach doesn't. This one had the flavor, but didn't sit on your gut so it was enjoyable from beginning to end. I LOVED the jalapeno bread! It was more of a flip of dough instead of just being a slice topped with cheese and jalapeno... I don't know what they do to the jalapenos, but they were exceptional.
I could go on and on about the stromboli, the subs, the arancini... I feel like we live in a food desert: plenty of things to eat, but not a lot of it worth eating. Miyork is definitely an oasis. It isn't cheap. If that's what matters most to you, there are plenty of places that are cheaper. But I will say the food is a value for...
Read moreI've only ordered take out pizza from here so far. Let me preface this by saying, we are not a big pizza household here. We used to order pizza maybe once every other month or so. I've never been a fan of NY style (thin crust) or Chicago-style pizza. I like the big, thick, doughy crust and a good tangy red sauce. To me, most pizza places are just...meh. NOT THIS PLACE! Oh my goodness, this is the best pizza you'll ever have in your LIFE. It's so good we now order once a week. We've tried the mushroom pizza, the meat pizza, and the BBQ Chicken pizza. They are all mouth-wateringly delectable! The crust is thin crust, but it's perfectly cooked -- crispy and not floppy. Don't even mess with the pizzas how they come. Whomever concocted these combinations is a culinary genius. It's so good you can't help but eat just one more slice, even when you are stuffed. Their ranch dressing is dilly goodness -- and I always order a side to dip my pizza. The garlic bread knots are wonderfully doughy and soft. I just wish those had more flavor, as I really can't taste any garlic in them and it's really just plain dough. All in all, we LOVE this pizza and we hope they are...
