Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Comstock Charter Township

It was fine. I will certainly be back but it wasn't the best experience. This was my first time at a Tropical Smoothie Cafe and while it won't be my last, I may be hesitant to return. When we walked in, we were hit by a very pungent smell kind of like something was extremely burnt. It was very off-putting and definitely not something I wanted to smell first thing in the morning or when I'm about to eat. The smell aside, it was small but relatively pleasant inside. As a first timer here, the menu was extremely confusing and overwhelming with so many options to choose from and many of which seemed to be pretty expensive. I got the peanut butter crunch bowl for around $12 or so and while it was good and filling, it wasn't the best. Even with banana, almonds, peanut butter, cocoa nibs, and honey, it still tasted pretty bland and for $12, though it filled me up, was a surprisingly small serving probably less than 2 cups for the whole thing. The customer service at this place is a joke! I went in several times in the spand of two weeks and each time they were always rude, they respond as if your being there is a bother. Last straw today I went in said hello to a young lady no response, i then stood at the cash register and watched her make several smoothies and placing them in the freezer for pick up, mind you I'm the only customer inside the Cafe at that time, Each time she got ready to make another smoothie she would look at me and turn and begin to make another smoothie. Finally I decide to walk out of the store but not before asking the young ladies name she says ALLISON that's it that's all never says allow me to help you now, an apology or ANYTHING. I saw an earlier review that's specifically stated her name stating she was nice to them, I'm convinced they are a relative because there is no way.... This store is conflicted during this planDemic! My wife and I go there twice in four days. The first visit we walked in, there were other customers there all of whom were practicing social distancing. Some had masks some didn’t. Our orders were taken, we paid the bill, got our smoothies and left. Two days later we went back and to our surprise I was told that they would not serve me because I didn’t have a mask! As I was leaving a pregnant mother drove up, she went in, and promptly exited got back in her car and left, she didn’t have a mask. Maybe after they keep losing Business they will stop capitulating to the overreach of the governor.
