The only reason for the 1 star is the nice manager at this store. I can not even give this store 1 star due to extremely poor service and disrespect encountered here. I attempted to go through the drive thru to place an order after arriving there at 7 pm. There was a long line already which should have been a key indicator but I took my chances. After placing my order once I finally get up to the window I sit there and listen to the girl in the drive thru talking to a mail cook and stating " I don't care. I really don't care." I have no idea what the conversation was about but it took some time before she acknowledged me and it was not even so much as a hi. More like the total of my purchase and took my card. I sat there for about 3 min before she returns and hands me my card back. She then shut the window and I sat there for maybe another 4-5 min before this lady and the line cook look out the window at the vehicle in front of me they had to pull up. A few minutes later the guy comes to the window and asks me to pull up to the white line. I proceed to pull up just as the car that was waiting got their food I pull forward. I sat there with my 3 children in the back seat another 5-8 min before the male comes out and hands me the bag states something and walks off. I proceed to check the bag only to find out that this was not my order. At this point I am super frustrated as my kids are getting restless. I leave my car parked at the window and go inside to tell them this is not my order. When I get inside I walked up to the counter and stated this is not my order. The male line cook says to me in a very nasty manner "What did you order?" This rubbed me the wrong way and I have already been waiting over 30 min for a burger fries and side of beans. I stated that I would like to just get my money back. His reply to me was "I asked you what you ordered!" all the while with a nasty attitude and tone. I advised him I just want my money and that it is not what he asked me but more so what he asked me but how he asked me. When the manager finally made it up to the front I explained to her that I would like a refund I am unhappy with the way I was talked to by this cook and would not be spending my money somewhere that I am talked to and disrespected like this. She was very calm and nice. She asked me what I ordered and I told her she went to get the receipt and the guy says to her "I asked her what she order and she thinks I have a F*ing attitude." There were other customers in the store watching as all this transpired. At the end I was able to get my refund after I had to return to my car to get the debit card that was used. The manager offered to make me something else but I declined as I did not want to wait any longer with my kids nor did I want anything this guy would cook for me. I will NOT be going...

I used to work at this location a few years back and decided to go in to say hey to the manager that hired me named Ashley and while being there I asked if they were hiring and a manager told me they did and instructed me to right down my information to give over to Ashley and how there was this owner named Tracy that she insisted I would love. I went in days later asking when Ashley would be in to speak to her since i'd rather speak in person and I was told on two different occasions when she'd be in but today I went up there asking if she'd be there at night so I could catch her and the owner, Tracy was there which I spoke to last time and she had me write down my information again. She had an attitude from the moment we started talking, I had only one question which was if that particular manager would be in that night and she told me she couldn't tell me her schedule and they weren't hiring which clearly was a lie since other management confirmed with me and twice I was told to leave a message for Ashley regarding a job and Tracy was the last person to hand me a pen and tell me to. As I was saying she clearly had an attitude and I had asked her the reason for it, she denied she had one when she obviously was rude during the interaction with me and the few times I went up there i've been polite and friendly to everyone, i'm an understanding person but I will never inquire about working here again, I thought management had gotten better and I had realized that when I was working there, I remember Tracy! She lied to me in the past when I had to quit because of an health problem and after getting better she made it seem I can come back then claimed she couldn't put me back on schedule as the one who had control over the schedule and other managers. This goes to say how ratchet it's become and employees and management used to steal like crazy at this store, I thought things we're more professional now. Now adays the only people who go here are people late at night who are desperate for something to eat and this is the only open burger joint, well aside from the McDonald’s next door but honestly it’s probably better than this place at this point. The food has taken a sharp decline, smaller portions, and sub par ingredients, the only thing that’s stayed somewhat the same are the fries, but deep fried potato’s and salt are hard to mess up And the shakes are abysmal, they used to be these thick creamy towers of smooth delight, now your lucky if it’s not a sloshy melted mess served in a depressing styrofoam cup, a far cry from their beautiful glasses they used to come in, you’re also lucky if you even get the shake flavor you ordered. The staff, the 2 that exist at any given point that is, are usually pretty pleasant, I’d rate service higher except 90% of all the work is done by yourself at a kiosk and the only time you actually interact with anyone is when they shout your name to come and grab the food like it’s a food court, I’m honestly surprised I didn’t see a Roomba rolling around. However all of this is secondary to the most egregious part of Steak n Shake, their idiotic and insulting drink “machine” while all the actual food places are installing these amazing free style machines Steak ‘n Shake is busy making your life miserable and harder, with their drink machine which can only be accessed with a QR code on a receipt printed from their Kiosk when you order, and GOOD LUCK getting more than a single refill before you get cut off, because this awful company is so close to bankruptcy they’re pinching pennies on Soda arguably the cheapest part of their entire...
