The Sweet Life — Restaurant in Concord

This was my first time in. I have eyed this place for a year but never ventured in. Today I decided was the day to try the cupcakes! I walk in about 15mins till closing. A younger female with short hair stood at the counter. I was not greeted once inside. I walk to the cupcake case and still not greeted. No one else was in there. I stood there for a few seconds, and she finally walked over…still didn’t speak to me. I told her I was ordering 4 cup cakes and told her which I wanted. As she loaded the box, she still hadn’t spoken a word to me. I finished ordering, and she places my order by the register. The only time she spoke to me is when she told me my total. I placed my card into the machine, and as I removed it, I mentioned to her that it would make customers a lot more comfortable, if she smiled at them and spoke to them. Her response was “OK”. I would also like to mention, as I was having my cupcakes boxed, a man walked in and asked if they serve coffee. She did not speak to him either and just shook her head no. I expected better customer service from a locally owned small business. I was highly disappointed for my first time being there. Off the customer service alone, I am not sure I would return. I can't say enough great things about this bakery. My wife and I came in about two weeks prior to my son's birthday party looking for a cake. We showed the owner a sample of what the party's theme was going to be about, chose the flavoring of the cake, and the rest was up to her. The day of the birthday party we went to pick up the cake and needless to say she did not disappoint! She did quite a bit of research on the character, with such attention to detail that it exceeded all my expectations! I honestly wasn't expecting such an amazing design and delicious cake. My son loved it and everyone at the party couldn't stop complimenting on how great the cake looked and tasted! Everyone at the bakery was very polite and professional, you can tell that the owner has a vested interest with all her customers making sure they're satisfied with the final product. We absolutely LOVE The Sweet Life. Lori baked our wedding cake in 2010 and knocked it out of the park, we have been using The Sweet Life ever since. If we are in the area we always stop in for Macaroons or a few cupcakes and the occasional cake. This year The Sweet Life saved the day! Our daughter gets a cake from Icing Smiles every year for her birthday, this year the baker canceled (2) days before her party due to a family emergency, I gave Lori a call knowing it was incredibly short notice and without hesitation Lori and her team were able to help us out.
