La Flor Mexicana Restaurant — Restaurant in Conroe

This is hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants in Texas. Like most great local places, it's a hole in the wall, but don't judge a book by its cover. Almost everything here is good but the true star of the show is the Caldo De Rez (beef soup). This hearty soup will fill you up with giant chunks of beef and vegetables. Its flavorful but very mild. If you enjoy a spicy kick make sure to add in the peppers that come on the side and ask for samples of their cornucopia of homemade hot sauces until you find the fire level that suits you. Also everything is made to order, including the tortillas. So be careful grabbing one when it hits the table because it will be extremely hot. They have a very large selection of authentic Mexican drinks behind the register. But personally I go for the housemade agua frescas. By far my favorite is the horchata. I was there today Feb 8, 2022 with my husband and daughter . We ordered as usual and I got Menudo & a side of rice . Well once was order was brought I went into pour my rice into my menudo and went to mix .. as I am mixing I realize something shiny poking out. It was a spring metal from a dish washer stainless steel scrubber ! Once I let the young lady from the front know she said okay let me swap it out ... no apology! If that item was in the menudo it’s common sense you wouldn’t serve from that pot anymore because there may be more in there .. once I asked for a refund they said they had to contact management and were making fun of the whole situation .. I’ve gone there for years but definitely will not be going back . Once I was refunded I was not refunded completely . No receipt no nothing . If this would have been a To-Go order would they had even believed it was in the food ?...

I love this place, been coming since I was a kid! I came in today and there must be new help at the front who isn’t very helpful… 5 stars for the food but 1 star for the girl at the front! The order was all messed up after repeating myself 100000x times, still never got any limes or cheese for the tacos, also never received my drink so when I said something she just rolled her eyes then just assumed I was lying. Also walked in to see my food is ready on the counter but she messed up the card system and told me it was going to be 20 minutes, so now I’m going home with cold food, no limes or cheese and got sass for wanting my drink I paid for!
