I gave this local hot spot two shots before finally writing my review. I stopped by today for lunch so I'll start with the positives, The completed building front looks great and is no longer under construction, it's very inviting. The atmosphere here is down home country and feels warm and homey. The aromatherapy of that smoky bbq greets you at the door and is beautiful bbq bliss. Unfortunately, that's where the experience stops. The staff member that actually greets you at the register (same on both of my visits)needs a refresher course in customer service as well as the women at the burger pick-up window today. Both were rude as heck. I'm sorry I inconvenienced them by stopping by to order today. A customer should be greeted with a smile, a friendly face, a "thanks for coming in" or at the very least, feign some sort of basic friendliness.
You will be prompted at the register to tip, (I gave a 15% tip, coming in at around $5.15) before picking up your own food, getting your own drink and cleaning up your own mess. Y'all stop this tipping business if you're not going to even give the customer a goshdang smile. I wish I hadn't given a cent. Here's the Tip I should have given Tip If a customer is not familiar with picking up different parts of their order at different windows they shouldn't be yelled at (burger-window-lady) for not knowing and made to feel like a nuisance. I try to be polite and understanding wherever I go, but this place gets two strikes for me just just in poor customer service from two of the female staff members. We ordered a kids cheeseburger and fries, chopped brisket sandwich, brisket over Mac, and chicken tenders. The Brisket is good, Mac in cheese was on the dry side today and unfortunately the burger was just okay and chicken was a bit flavorless today. The front soda fountain wasn't working correctly and the lemonade was out in the other machine but the single fountain feature was nice. Takeaway- Excellent atmosphere Hit or miss on the food Poor...
Read moreMan, this place was good! The chicken and turkey was seasoned/peppered well, and wasn't dried out. The ham was good. Kids chicken tenders were battered crispy and the chicken was moist. A+ for the cooks in the back. The moist brisket had no bark on it, which was a bummer (and disappointment) but had good pull, nice smoke, and was pleasurable to eat, just wish it had some bark along with it. Down ticks - the soda machines only had carbonated stuff- the lemonade/non carbonated was out. So, that left me with tea or water. Kids don't drink sodas or tea, so I felt the drink charge for essentially water was a bummer Plating- I wholeheartedly believe that a tray with some butcher paper with my entire order would go miles for presentation and overall fulfillment of getting my food, rather than Styrofoam plates sent out randomly, and had to get them 3 times as they came out. Like, we had 5 Styrofoam plates with the individual meats on it, and it just kinda swept away the quality of the food that was on them. Make sense? Probably save your company a boatload of money using butcher paper (or the kids tenders paper in the basket) to present/serve the food on. Wife even mentioned in jest that it was low-tone/out of character for the quality of the food it was on. Overall, minor stuff but still we'd come back and eat it again- the food was good and...
Read moreI got take out - my 1st time. I called ahead to ask some questions, and the hostess was very helpful and patient - at the height of rush hour! I got the spare rib plate, and they were meaty and very tasty - more spicy than I prefer (since I share with my dog🫣), but very good nonetheless. The lean brisket was perfection - lean, but not dry at all and a nice crust. I appreciate there was a comment box, and they addressed my (rather complicated) requests perfectly. The fries were tasty. The baked potato (a reasonable $2 upcharge as a side) was large and tomorrow's dinner. I'm a cobbler snob, and was delighted they have peach AND blackberry and arrived piping hot (2 breakfasts this week, w/my oatmeal & cappuccino, now covered). Being seriously ill, food doesn't interest me much, but this definitely hit the spot and was reasonably priced, so my thanks! I just have one request, and that would be to please tape/seal the delivery package, as generally customary when ordering through a delivery service, so food/drink inside is untouched and intact from how it left the restaurant. I've actually had food (entire orders even) and drinks stolen by UberEats drivers, which is gross knowing some have pawed through my food. Then you're out of luck (and sanity) after arguing with an Uber Bot trying, in vain, to get a refund....
