Update: We had family in town and they wanted crab legs, so we returned to Bennett's No.2. Our experience this time is much different than I would say is "usual". We had 7 adults and one child in our party.
First the crab legs were cold, and that made them difficult to eat, plus they are dripping wet. We wasted a lot of the crab legs because they are difficult to pick and break when cold. No one in our party enjoyed the cold dripping wet crab legs.
We also enjoy the fried chicken breasts at Bennet's, but this time they only had legs and thighs, no white meat at all. The steak was also very tough and rubbery.
A lot of the food items appeared to have been sitting longer than necessary, an abrupt change in the last month or two. Overall the food was disappointing this time. We arrived 15 minutes after they opened. The food should have been fresh but looked like it had been sitting for hours. Seemingly, something has significantly changed in the last month or two (management)???
One major issue we have is the bill. We feel it's a bit manipulative. When we were seated, our waitress told us the price for the meal, but she never mentioned a gratuity. When we finished eating, she brought the check to the table that just showed a total, but it didn't provide a break down of the charges, or show that a gratuity had already been included.
Naturally, we provided a cash tip for the server, because we thought there was no gratuity included, but the bill actually included a 18% gratuity. Something to check when paying your bill, if don't intend to double tip your server.
We live local, and Bennett's No.2 has become one of our favorite places where we like to dine for seafood (although they have chicken and beef choices as well). It's not perfect, but it's much better than some of the other restaurants where we have dined. The staff is always friendly and accommodating, a big plus. The place can become very busy on weekends and during the vacation season. Seeing a line waiting to get crab legs is not uncommon, and there is an occasional lapse when the buffet may run out. We had that issue a few times, but our server gladly went to the back, and brought some fresh crab legs to our table. Overall, usually an enjoyable dining experience. Pricing is typical for the beach, at the time of this writing $35.99 per adult, but there are coupons in the free beach books, that seem to be at every establishment along the...
Read moreWhere do I begin. Here on vacation to visit my sister mother grandparents niece and nephew. We decided to come here and eat Monday April 3, 2023. I was in the process of fixing my plate and a roach came near my plate. There was also another party and she witnessed the roach as well. The lady who came up to us to see if everything was okay didn't bother to mention that she was the manager but she said oh I'm sorry we had the people spray today so the roaches are coming out now i was smmfh. And said this unsanitary and wanted a manager as did the other party. Another party who saw it walked out after they just prepared their food. So the manager comes and it's the same lady who said sorry they sprayed today. She said she will give our party of 7 7.00 off each person and that she will give 7.00 off per person in the party of 4 because they were beginning to lose business. Mind you we had a coupon out the couple book as the other party did too. The manager then said she's not honoring the coupon and for us to call the police as she mad. Her own call. So we did and the officer who responded back to us said tell the manager that we can work something out and advised us to report them with the pictures to DHEC and the lady discounted both of our bills. 5 adults 44.95 10 yr old child 22.99 4 yr old child 4.99 drinks 8.94 water was free we end up paying 147.50 verses almost 300.00 because of this and im still reporting this to DHEC. I had to pay for the food only because over half of my party started eating before the roach was discovered so I ate crablegs and oysters in fear of possibly eating roaches mixed in food and I've...
Read moreMy husband and I try a different seafood buffet each time we travel to Myrtle Beach. We arrived for a late dinner. Drinks are $2.99 each and are not included in the $44.99 dinner buffet. I noticed other reviewers left lower ratings because of the buffet price. I think serving all you can eat oysters, shrimp, salmon, CRAB LEGS, is priced fairly. Prices are relative to current market and local restaurants.
Pros: Hostess and waitress were wonderful. Requested a booth or section in a corner. Tried different types of fish, shrimps, ribeye steak with mushrooms and onions, and of course CRAB LEGS. Everything was absolutely delicious. Try the "bang bang shrimp" - my absolute new favorite now!!! Best waitress we have had in a long time.
Cons: Dining area needs a remodel or DEEP, DEEP cleaning. The section we sat in was reminiscent of urine odor in a nursing home. Tables and seats are wiped down with maybe a damp rag, but not washed as well as they should be. Serving utensils along the buffet line, should be swapped out for clean ones more often. wearing gloves they're slippery and greasy feeling. You can see the old foods stuck to the tongs, the food was fresh but...
