This business is an absolute joke! Apparently they have an event going on today, but failed to clarify that they would not be open during normal business hours as detailed on Google & their Facebook page. Upon parking in the gravel lot I could see a huge sign that says “open” so I walked up to the doors. I tried to pull the door open, but it wouldn’t budge at all. There’s another small sign by the handle that details the business hours as 12pm to sellout Thursday through Sunday. I’m looking around as I see other people who were also under the impression the business was open today as advertised. I don’t use social media much, if at all.. so how would I be expected to know that they’re having some special event? I’ve heard nothing but good things about this business, but I’m never in Branson when they’re open. I had finally taken the time out of my schedule to make almost an hour drive to try this place to see what everyone else was raving about.. just for their doors to be locked. There’s no signage for this event posted at or around their business site. Other people are present as well who walked back and forth trying to see if maybe they forgot to unlock their doors or something.. nope! After checking their social media someone mentions an event and shows the flyer they have on their phone for simple communication as to why they are not open. It does not specify that they would not be supporting normal operating hours due to the “event” that’s going on. Apparently they would rather to hand out “free tacos” instead of accepting paying customers. Simple communication can go a long way.. I cannot say I’ll ever try this place because of this. I’m appalled how they have handled this. They would rather block people than answer a simple question and apologize for the lack of communication that occurred. We would have been fine if they handled...
Read moreI’m a Branson local and I believe I have tried EVERY Mexican spot in Branson that serves Mexican food, not to mention street tacos. Before I discovered Chubby Cactus Tacos, I just bounced around between the Jalapeño’s food truck, Tacos 248, Aranda’s Tacos by the ferris wheel, Tacos #1 on Mount Branson, and any tacos at the various Mexican food restaurants around town.
My wife’s parent’s live in San Diego, CA, and we go to visit often. Of all the great food San Diego offers, their street tacos remain supreme over every other state I’ve been to (in my opinion). I’ve found awesome tacos outside of San Diego, but they have been few and far between. In the San Diego area, and southern CA in general, Mexican food just seems to be on another level. Anywhere we’ve gone has had street tacos and Mexican food that just seems to blow Mexican food in MO out of the water. Everything tastes amazingly fresh, flavorful, and the price is right!
Chubby Cactus Tacos are on par or better than a lot of the taco places I’ve had in CA. And especially for this area, I just think they can’t be beat. My family and I come on a weekly basis to get their dipped tacos. Their OG tacos are like the traditional street tacos, so good, but the dipped tacos are where it’s at. Their burritos and quesadillas are great, too! Everything they make here is fresh and flavorful, not to mention their salsas! A lot of prep goes into ensuring the highest quality of food and you can for sure tell after the 1st bite.
They’re only open Friday-Sunday for the rest of 2023, so make sure you find time to...
