I read such great reviews about this place that I really wanted to love it and have it be my next 5-star breakfast place, but that just wasn't the case.
When we entered, there were several empty tables and all were in need of being cleaned. The server did wipe down the table we sat which led to us having to fan it with our menus for several minutes to dry it. This was the first strike.
When my glass of iced tea arrived, it had a wad of plastic wrap floating in the top of the glass. For the life of me, I don't know how the server could have possibly missed it. When we pointed it out, there was no delay in getting a fresh glass. Saran Wrap was strike two.
Although they weren't terribly busy, it seemed to take an unusually long time to receive our food. The food was okay. It was not the knock your socks off fare I was expecting based on the reviews we read. It was, by no means bad, it just wasn't out of this world. A good solid, middle of the line breakfast.
The one thing we've learned from Texas is to not judge a restaurant by its storefront and that was certainly the case here. Just passing by, I probably would not have gone in. With that said, the unclean tables, plastic wrap in my drink, and the slow service are enough to deter us from eating here again. I'm hoping we just caught them...

There were only two other tables but there was only 1 waitress. She served one table and ignored us so we finally left. Prior review: • Atmosphere: This is a very small restaurant so you may have a very uncomfortable wait standing at the door. The wall art is perfect and really accents the place. • Service: We were there when it was super busy. They were a little disorganized but they were very kind. • Food: The eggs were just okay. We got scrambled and they were the pre-made box and not fresh eggs. The roasted potatoes were the stand out item here and I recommend them. Chicken fried steak was tough to cut but decent flavor, chicken fried chicken was tender and good. The jelly was very unique and not in a good way (jelly also came in a container that looked like someone scooped it out of a jar). The grits were flavorless and the English muffin was fine but basic. • Price: I will say that they are a little over priced for having average food • Solid option for breakfast if you just need something to eat but not a place I would rush to try. I did see LOTS of takeout so you may want to try that to avoid the...
Read moreNot enough stars on this app!!! People… hear me and hear me good… this place although quaint … is fire! It’s crazy how you can spend a lot of money to go to a place that gives you over the top aesthetic on the inside, but the food is mid; then visit an established with a more simple approach on the inside, and the food is OUT OF THIS WORLD. We were in from Dallas visiting, and just taking “stabs in the dark” at places to visit for our food needs. Discovering “Early Riser Café” was one of the best things we could’ve done. We showed up with about 30 minutes to close, and still was provided with the best customer service ever. Lizbeth (and I pray I’m spelling her name correctly, was friendly and hosted us perfectly. We all sampled each other’s plate and had the exact same reaction, yum! It didn’t take long for us to just decide this would be where we ate breakfast for the remaining days left in the area. Hot food. Great service. Perfect pricepoint. Courteous and inviting. From what I hear it’s hard to get a seat so be sure to visit early as possible if you plan to go.
