My family and I have visited this 24-hour restaurant/café at least 8-10 times by now; between coming here with friends or family, the experience has always been spectacular. Honestly, I was shocked to realize that I had never rated or left a review of this restaurant out of all my visits - this includes before the casino/restaurant rebranded its name, from what I believe was the "Grand Café." Majority of our visits have been for breakfast or brunch; however, there are a few times that we ate here after a long night in the casino, or in general (the early morning of 26 Jan 2024/~2:00 am happens to be one of those nights).
When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by the extremely friendly host and was escorted to our table. Our server, Melissa, was fantastic in every way; she was very friendly, attentive, very high speed (considering how late/early it was); and communicated very effectively. I know that the majority of our visits have been great because of the outstanding servers they have on staff. It's unfortunate that I don't recall everyone's names from the previous visits but rest assured, the employees are phenomenal. The only major drawback to this restaurant is how I can still smell cigarette/cigar smoke whenever I'm eating; especially if I'm seated close to the entry. I know I'm in a casino, but that also doesn't mean I should have to smell smoke while I'm trying to enjoy my food. Perhaps I'll get my wish one day and these casinos will ban all smoking inside their properties.
For our recent visit, we ordered the Chicken Taquitos, Chicken Wings, Brick Chicken, and Roasted Turkey Club Half with Tomato Soup - everything tasted very good! In fact, this was the first time I tried the Brick Chicken and I was thoroughly amazed with the flavor and texture of it. The Chicken Taquitos were a little different than the first time I tried it, but it was still awesome. The Chicken Wings are unparalleled...I don't want to seem like I am over-dramatizing this but considering this isn't a big-name wing restaurant, and the fact that the wings here are scrumptious, that speaks millions of this restaurant. During our previous visits, I/we did have the opportunity to try the Chilaquiles, Lucky Breakfast Burrito, Steak & Eggs, Penny Benny, Lucky Three-Way, Avocado Toast, Build Your Own Omelet, Buttermilk Pancakes, Lemon-Blueberry Ricotta Pancakes, French Toast, and Cast Iron Cinnamon Roll. Out of all these items, not one of them left a negative impact; however, I will say that I probably wouldn't order the Chilaquiles and Lemon-Blueberry Ricotta Pancakes again. Not because they were terrible...it's because I just wanted to try it and I like to stick to my traditional entrées when I come here.
Of noteworthy mention, I've never tried the Loaded Nachos, Seafood Chowder, Grilled Salmon, Prime Rib, and Chicken Parmesan at this restaurant, but since this café is almost similar to the other Station property cafés, I suspect the end product is pretty identical in quality...and that's a good thing, because I enjoy those entrées. Every time we eat here, we've always had a memorable experience...my hats off to the restaurant's phenomenal management/operations. The price-to-quantity/quality ratio is adequate; the bakery is to die for; and the employees are unrivaled. Thank you, Lucky Penny, for the experiences. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Note to Customers: If you didn't know, you can use your rewards card points at this restaurant, if you have enough. Also, this restaurant accepts meal comps that have been loaded on your player's card from the casino host or anyone on staff with that authority. So if you're planning on playing all night on the casino floor, be sure to get a rewards card and use it every time you're playing, and ask the pit boss (table games) or casino host on duty to get a meal comp for your play....
Read moreGrand Cafe @ Red Rock is horrible! Went with the family and no one was happy with their food. The service was horrible. While waiting to be seated no one asked if we were being helped yet we were looked at a few times and had workers go to the post (should of been a clue). The kids menu said chicken wings and both of my kids wanted those, so I ask our server if they are "buffalo style" her response was they are not wings and they are plain...why does the menu say wings then? (Fingers is not on the menu tho) Ok doesn't make sense but let's go on. Both my husband and I ordered a side salad with our food, you can't call what we got a salad! A plate of lettuce with dressing. I needed something so I asked for some shredded cheese, my server bought me the smallest cup, (a little bigger than those dairy creamers that are on the table for coffee) that at the end I was charged .99 cents for! Are you kidding! One teaspoon of cheese! For our meals I ordered a regular burger and I specifically asked my server does it come with mayo, mustard, and ketchup? She said yes. Perfect. I get my burger and it has nothing at all on it. No sauce of any kind, so I had to wait for all my sauces. Get everything together and dig in.....burger is nasty. It has some odd taste and the whole outter layer is burnt. My husband ordered the beef spaghetti, the plate looked like a meal from the kids menu. The sauce was barely there and he said it was ok nothing to rave about and too be honest from looks I wouldn't of wanted to eat it. I don't have very picky kids and usually kids and chicken you can't go wrong, but when both your kids don't finish their meals and don't want the food it's not good! I don't have anything I could say good about this place. Food was horrible, service was slow and just lacked friendliness, price for everything wasn't on point. $7 for two plates of lettuce, $13 for a kids size spaghetti! I will not return here and I know they are located in other casinos, but if this any indication on how they are I'll pass on them all! Felt like I could of went to a drive-thru and got better food and for less...
Read moreArrived at 1159. 1 minute away from the midnight special. I asked the very rude, no personality having waitress if we can get the menu with the midnight special. She looked at me like deer in the headlights and said "that starts at midnight" I said it is 1159 and prob midnight in less than a few seconds. She said has to be midnight. I said ok no problem come back and see me in 30 seconds. She rolled her eyes and came back and said you also have to have a player card as if I did not. I ACTUALLY have the Chairman card which is the highest card that they have. After looking defeated, she came with the menu. A few minutes later she came back with a what do you want look and I politely said what I wanted and she just took the menu and walked away. I actually enjoy it when I get an unfit waitresd that does not realize what the job is about. I used to wait tables in high school and I would say welcome, my name is Milan, i will be your server today, and move into the process and I got tippped really well. By being the evil which that she is , she gave me something to do while waiting for my food and saved me a few bucks as I am stiffing her 100%. Tips are earned and not given just for showing up with the uniform on. This id usually the situation when I come here so please come with the correct expectation or you will be disappointed for all you people that come to a restaurant for the service. I do not care because I came for the low price midnight special and there is not too much available to eat this late. She did me a favor and saved me even more money. This is coming from someone who was very very polite and had a smile on my face. I guess I look young and she knows if I order from the expensive menu, the check would be higher and her tip would be higher. On deals like this I normally tip 60% of the check. Not today. Today it is free. Lol. Her name is robin. Jusy caught the name tag. She looks like she wants to kill herself tonight. I do care but my shrink hat is off tonight and I am out to eat and expect...
