In response to the diner regarding a soy allergy. I don't usually entertain argumentative comments as it's just a waste of time and I don't like to pass judgement. However, I am making an exception to this specific comment because the diner's remarks are conflicting and ridiculously unreasonable. As someone with mild food sensitivities, I too understand the dilemma when dining out. I have spent many hours researching food ingredients to make my personal dining experience enjoyable. So, it's interesting that the diner indicated she has an allergic reaction to soy; yet complains about an unseasoned piece of salmon over a dry salad, sprinkled with croutons, when in fact soybean oil is in almost everything, including croutons, some spices and seasonings, and almost all dressings and condiments. Per her review, it sounds as though she was provided an almost soy free meal, not once complaining about the croutons as to whether they were soy free or not. As she continues to rant about the service and food in her review, degrading the staff and criticizing the flavor, it leads me to believe that the allergen may perhaps be mild or just an excuse for poor behavior. As a frequent diner to restaurants serving a variety of cuisines, I have never visited one with an alternative menu covering ALL allergies. It is MY responsibility as the allergy sufferer to choose something from the menu that not only suits my palate, but also doesn't deliver an allergic response. Additionally, it would be absurd for me to presume that all employees in the food service industry are fully certified nutritional experts. Finally, when addressing wait staff with a question for the kitchen, they can only provide answers to customers as quickly as they are getting them answered by the kitchen staff. I have a great respect for those who choose to work in the food service industry. It usually requires long hours, sometimes uncomfortable temperatures, serving ungrateful customers. I want to thank Matt's Fish Camp. They deliver delicious food, employ fantastic wait staff and provide an exceptional dining experience. In closing, shame on you diner for mentioning names in your review, passing judgement, and displaying downright disrespect. I hope you have the day...
Read moreMy husband and I came here last night for the first time, we really liked this restaurant as everything recommended to us was awesome and we got great service even if we entered 30min before they close. So we decided to visit again today with our whole family and also to enjoy the special priced raw oysters during happy hour. Upon arrival, we were told that since we have a 2-year old in the party, we couldn’t sit at the bar. So we proposed if we could split into 2 parties, one with the toddler sit at the table and the others sit at the bar, as we saw it was proposed previously to other customers with kids. The manager Kelsie came over said no without much patience and said it is based on federal or state law or something. We were trying to clarify the rule with her, and if she could simply treat us as two parties, we don’t mind splitting as we didn’t plan to give raw food to the toddler anyways. She agreed with unpleasant attitude and then asked how many people will sit at the bar vs at the table. We then checked with her how many spots are available at the bar to decide. However she suddenly pissed off and yelled at us, said something like she doesn’t understand what we are talking about, we are free to go sit at the bar as long as there are spots we can see, and if we don’t want to eat here we can go. We are not native speakers, so I don’t know if that is why she couldn’t understand us and triggered the impatience with us, or simply being racist to Asian. Considering this can be just personal behavior, we didn’t change our plan and still had dinner here at the table only. Our server Lisa was very kind and ensured we had a great experience for the rest. The food is still excellent, all of our family enjoyed it, but the impact from the bad experience is still there. We were never being yelled at at any restaurants before during the last ten years in US. I just hope the owner of the restaurant can really pay attention to the unprofessional behavior happening, I really like the food here and really don’t hope such things to destroy a...
Read moreSoooo wanted to love our experience . We are full time residents and visited when Matt’s first opened . Honestly we were not impressed and did not return until this summer . Well we had such a wonderful time we couldn’t wait to return . We had lunch this afternoon and OMG. What a total disappointment . Nothing wrong with our greeting , our waiter was ok . Nothing spectacular . Almost indifferent , robot like . We asked for a side salad and we were told there was no such thing, which is fine so we asked if we could just share a garden salad to start and then my husband ordered the fried shrimp and I ordered the fried clams . our salad came out promptly by the food runner . We had to ask for a second plate . Ok not a huge deal . The salad was very good . Then however , here comes our entrees . I truly hate when hot food comes out along with your appetizer . Rush through because if you don’t , dinner will be cold . Now to the entree’s. Wow ! Is this the lunch portion ? I was appalled by the skimpy serving of clams scattered on the “ beach “ fries . What was there tasted very strong and fishy . And the Cole slaw had little flavor . All in all not what I would consider a 23 dollar meal . My husbands fried shrimp was just slightly better only due to the number of shrimp , though still nothing special . When we tallied up our bill , “ oh and our server found his smile and personality at gratuity time lol “ we discussed just how unbelievable it was that the two of us would spend a total of 85.00 for that lunch . Yesterday at a local Lewes establishment we had a lovely lunch with my mom and three of us had lunch , prime rib sandwiches , soup , side salad and totaled 66.00 and this was not a chain . We have no problem paying an appropriate price for quality . The last time we were at Matt’s I had raw oysters and a great meal . I don’t remember how much our bill was because it was worth every Penny . Today was not . Not sure we are going to try for...
