I have been going to this place for many years. I've seen it transition from a cafeteria type style restaurant to the really beautiful place that they have made it into. The place is definitely much nicer inside. I've always gone here because the service is good and so is the food. Over the course of the last year, prices have increased because everything is which I totally understand. And that's fine, increase your prices if necessary but do not make your portions much smaller and increase your price. That's very frustrating. I don't mind paying a higher price but keep your portions the same. I know they remodel and I feel like the consumer is paying for that remodel. I love the staff. I've had several birthday parties there and tell people about it all the time when they come and visit and I take them there. I hope the restaurant is reading this review because they really need to think about keeping their portions the same since they have drastically increased their prices. There's a ceviche place on Wilton Manors that has recently opened in which I had visited. Very nice place. But their portions were much smaller than Salimar so, after going to the place on Wilton I said that I wouldn't go back there because their portions were much smaller than Salimar. Well that is no longer true. Salamar increased their prices and made the portions much smaller. So that is my review is that they increase their prices and their portions are smaller. I'm not sure that this is my place to go any longer. Which is sad. And I see from other reviews they don't respond to any of the reviews so I don't expect to see one. And if I do that's great and I hope at least they are reading this so they know that the consumer is aware of higher prices and...
Read moreThis was the worst service I have ever received. I ordered ceviche and yucca through Uber Eats because my office's previous order had been cancelled by Uber. So, I was waiting for the order to be prepared and picked up when I received a phone call from a Massachusetts number. The person who called was the person who prepared the first order of ceviche. She refused to prepare the second order and told me to call Uber to resolve the issue with the first order. I tried to explain to her that I made the second order because the first order my co-worker had ordered had been cancelled and that we were going to pay for the second order, obviously. She continued to refuse to prepare the food and said that the first order had already been sent with the driver. At that point, she started yelling and telling me that she wasn't going to make the food and to have Uber deal with the situation. At that point, I was getting angry because I have never been spoken to like that. I told her that I would never order from this restaurant again. She said "Fine!" and hung up. I cancelled this order through Uber and Uber has made sure that I won't be charged for this meal.
I have never spoken to anyone who has ever treated me as disrespectfully as this woman has to me and the only reason that I don't include her name in this review is because she did not have the decency to even give...
Read moreLet me tell you about this joint I went to last Friday night. It's this Peruvian joint on Sunrise, Salimar. Not our first time there, we knew about their great food, but the way they changed this place surprised the hell outta us.
First things first, the decor. What the fungus?? They must've hired some fancy shmancy designer 'cause the joint looked like it belonged in one of those high-class magazines. I mean, I almost felt like I was in some swanky joint in Brickell or somethin'. The place was all decked out with elegant furnishings, dim lighting, and some artsy fartsy Peruvian Stuff on the walls. It was a real class act.
Now, here's the part that blew my mind. The joint wasn't even packed! I mean, what the fuhgeddaboudit? How could a place this good not be overrun with people? But hey, that just meant we got the VIP treatment. Our Waitress, Gabi, was the best.
Food? off the charts. They served up all these authentic Peruvian dishes that were like nothin' I ever tasted before. We started off with some Pulpo (Octopus), fresh as can be. Then we dove into some tacu lomo and Tacu Mariscos , which was a mouthwatering mix of tender beef, onions, and tomatoes, all stir-fried to perfection, and then the seafood version. Recommend ? Yes? Return?...
