Summerfield Tea Bar — Restaurant in Walnut

I normally don't leave negative reviews after only one visit but I realized that this place kept the reviews from the previous store. If you look back at the older reviews, they're for a place called dragon fly; the current place Summerfield seems to have opened more recently. Today, the service was really bad. I literally stood at the cashier waiting for them to take my order for nearly 5 minutes. Not stood in line for 5 minutes, I was at the cashier waiting for them. I came with friends and our drinks made in very unusual order. I was literally last to order, my friends had ordered at least 5 minutes before me, but I got my drink second. People behind me got their drinks before my friends that had ordered ahead of me. It really feels like a first in, last out sequence. After over 20 minutes, my friends had to go and check on their drinks. Turns out their drink order was lost? I suspect that they are so disorganized that my one or more of my friend's drinks were given away to a different customer. Some of my friends said their drinks tasted VERY watered down too. Bad service might be understandable if they were overwhelmed by I was later informed that they actually had 6 or more people behind the counters so this level of service is not understandable. I wouldn't come back here and I wouldn't recommend them either; ESPECIALLY since their reviews were not earned. Side note, we dug into the reviews because the service we received was so bad. This is when we discovered that Dragon Fly earned the reviews and this place kept the reviews. My wife and I decided to go here after dinner with some friends and I can't say I enjoyed my experience at all. While the drinks were alright, nothing special. My biggest gripe had to do with their bathroom situation. First off, they had a total of 4 bathrooms. 2 porta pottys and 2 attached to the building. You'd think that'd be solid, but TELL ME WHY 3 out of the 4 bathroom said EMPLOYEES ONLY? And to add insult to injury, both bathrooms attached to the building, one being the costumer bathroom, said "Out of Order" with keypad locks on the door. On top of that, both porta pottys had a combination padlocks on them, so out of 4 bathrooms 0 of them were available for customer use. You'd think a place that primarily serves beverages would make sure to have usable bathroom all the time. And what kinda place has more employees only bathrooms then guest bathrooms? I've honestly never seen that before in my life. Needless to say we had to bolt from the place the moment any of us had to go.

Other than that, they also need to figure out how to regulate temperature for their building. We tried sitting outside at first but found that without any heaters it was very cold especially with most of the drinks being either chilled or slushii. So we tried sitting inside but they had to heater on full blast so we were sweating the moment we sat down. We opted for outside at that point but did not stay long.

Finally, the server who took our order seemed annoyed just being there, but maybe I was just assuming that part.

Been coming here for many years. Place is always packed. Food is good. Vibe is good. Place is my go to place to study. Good A/C during summer. During fall and spring I like to study outside since it always gets packed.

Food: Don't expect high quality meals here but as a snack the food is okay. Popcorn chicken has changed a couple times here. I liked it before but I don't like the square popcorn chicken they have now. So I guess its a hit or miss. The fries are pretty good.

Drinks: Drinks are always good here. I mean as good as a drink can get nowadays. Like at this point they all feel the same. They have a Buy one get one for $2. But thats only during happy hour which is Mon-Fri from 1pm to 5pm. Also I think its only for like fresh teas.

Vibe: I come here for the vibe. Parking is usually good here just don't park at the apartment complex beige wall because that's where everyone gets towed. I like studying here. People are always here and I study better when its like cafe noises all around me. There's a good amount of plugs here inside and outside. Plus this place closes late. Like at 1am. Good for late night people.

Drive Thru: They have a drive through here. I never used it but i guess some people care about that so yeah.

I feel like 5 star nowadays is just a yes or no at this point. 5 star is yeah ill go here again. 1 star is nah not for me. And that's how I rate things now. Maybe 1 is too much. I might do...
