Okay. So I typically try to leave as honest of reviews as I possibly can. I really didn't want to leave a review this time. Because I felt that the service was exceptional, but the restaurant itself was not. I felt the sushi was a bit off temperature. The crab meat didn't taste like it should, And the rest of the feeling in the restaurant felt a little bit dirty, not too much. Which leads me to my next point I was constantly bombarded from the time my drink hit the table by tiny little flies that I kept killing over and over it ruined my entire evening, as I tried my best to hold a smile for the hostess, as I knew she understood that I was probably aggravated by what I was going through? I tried to mention it to her, but I know there was nothing she could do about it, but the flies were absolutely atrocious. Even though the service was great, I probably will not be back. Side note: this was the first time I ever took myself out to eat alone as an adult, and it made me feel like I don't want to do it again haha also.. what's with the shrimp tails?? UPDATE: Got home and felt something in my teeth.. what was it?? One of the flies.. wow....

EDIT: Well, Joseph and Kim retired, which I am so happy to hear! The downside is that we drove from Beaverton to go back to Sushi Kata, which we frequented when we lived in Milwaukie and we had a pretty bad experience. So here it is… we got there and had to wait 30 minutes before someone was able to take our order, not a huge deal, they were busy. We ordered 4 sushi rolls. Once we ordered, they let us know that it would take a while to get the food, again they were busy so we understood, so we waited. We waited for another 30 minutes, keep in mind we had now been there for an entire hour at this point and hadn’t been given drinks or food. Finally the server walks up to our table and she tells us that they “RAN OUT OF SUSHI RICE AND WOULDN’T BE ABLE TO MAKE ANY OF OUR FOOD” after we sat there for an HOUR. So we just had to leave super hungry and pick up fast food on our way home.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Love this spot. It’s great quality and crazy good prices. The owner and his wife are awesome folks and...

I have been going here for years. I have told every sushi lover i know about it. Loved the consistent well flavored food for a reasonable price. Sadly the older couple who owned it have now retired. We tried it tonight and sadly I will not be talking this up. They got some new window art of sushi that isn't even theirs. They raised the priced a noticeable amount. They got fancy dishes. They removed several of the dishes that made it worth the 30 min drive. The worst part is that they are skimping some now. More rice, less filling in rolls. No furikaka in rolls or on pieces. Different more sugery sauce. AND the wrost part is the rice. It used to be well flavored and just the right amount of sticky. Now it tastes like roundabout sushi place rice. Bland and overly sticky and a bit overcooked. I can't blame the cooks as they are the same cooks. It has to be a choice from the new owner. It breaks my heart when stuff like this happens. If your in the area it's still decent, but it's not longer drive...

I wish this place was in a better location and bigger. They could do so much more business! Not that they aren't slammed now but even more could enjoy the food. It's a very small establishment. Maybe 10 tables. Very tight sitting. Completely worth it. While sitting and waiting for the food to arrive so many to go orders were placed. The food looked so amazing we dove in before we could get pictures. We ordered the teriyaki chicken, katsu chicken, mexican rolls, Philly rolls and gyoza. All equally amazing. Will eat here again but probably get it to go.

Came in with a reservation because I wasn’t sure if there would be a wait time- I was greeted immediately when I walked in, & by name! Had a table waiting for me, and received immediate service from Kim’s smiling face! I ordered some of my favorite “go to” rolls, and all of them were amazing. You can tell this quickly becomes peoples “go to” restaurant. Customers coming in and out to eat, pick up orders, most greeted by name. Love this restaurant and the workers! I’ll definitely be coming back! 💕
