I had stopped by tonight to place an order for a salad. Server come over right away and she was super sweet as well as attentive! Helped me choose from the salads and made sure I was assisted while helping others in a full restaurant. When I got home I noticed there was a mistake with communication most likely as I mentioned I wanted the kale salad and received a house grilled chicken salad. When I called the hostess was super cheerful and sweet, the manager that assisted me apologized and let me know I could come pick hp the correct salad. I have never had a bad experience with the service or food at this location and the experience tonight solidified my love and loyalty for this restaurant. Do note I was completely okay with paying the different and mentioned I did not need a refund, I have a very sensitive stomach and have been having issues this past week so I could not eat the bacon or yogurt dressing in the first salad provided so I just wanted the kale salad. I had already poured dressing over the first one but didn’t eat it as I turned on my kitchen light after pouring the dressing, but before taking the first bite, because I noticed the lettuce didn’t look like kale when I was mixing the dressing. Yet the manager insisted that the issue be completely resolved in both ways. I sincerely appreciate the customer service that was given tonight and thoroughly enjoyed the salad when I got home. Every time I come to this location every server that helps me is always super attentive and sweet and just provides a really good experience as well as the management. Also, I would like to point out that no matter how full the restaurant is or how busy the team may be the same kind of service experience and food is always provided. I have taken friends and family here and continue to recommend this location and restaurant. Thank you guys for always going above and beyond.🩵
-I posted a review on yelp as well and forgot to mention that the environment is always so clean and pristine all the way around from the dining to the patio to the restrooms. The ambience is very warm and welcoming and the service definitely enhances that feeling. I do not really post often but have to say that kudos are definitely in order, I really hope this review gets read to the staff because...
Read moreLocated West of Houston in Katy, just off of I-10 at the Grand Parkway, Whiskey Cake Kitchen and Bar prides itself on serving up delicious farm-to-kitchen foods and drinks. In fact, most entrees are slow-cooked on a live wood grill or smoker, so it's the perfect place to indulge in some classic Texan fare. Some of the popular menu items we have enjoyed include the mesquite-grilled redfish, mesquite-smoked duck breast, and open-pit grilled pork tenderloin. Some of the side dishes we've enjoyed are the spinach tomato orzo, sweet potato hash, and poblano and bacon grits.
The atmosphere here could be described as "industrial chic." The exposed brick walls give way to an airy environment, where bare bulbs hang throughout like little astronauts. Upside-down light bulbs serve as vases and steel nuts act as napkin rings. These touches are meant to complement their "farm-to-kitchen," "from scratch only" philosophy."
Another thing that stood out during our visit was the staff. They were efficient and pleasant. Their uniforms -- white t-shirts, newsboy caps and suspenders added to the ensemble for the males.
This is the kind of place where you feel comfortable talking to strangers and nobody seems too preoccupied with impressing each other. In the background we were serenaded by the Arctic Monkeys among other similar artists during our visit.
When a restaurant names itself after one of its desserts, you don't ask questions -- you just order it. Especially when it involves the words "whiskey" and "cake."
The whiskey cake was indeed impressive. Our server asked if we wanted whipped cream, and we nodded yes. The fresh whipped cream balanced out the richness of the super-moist toffee torte, which rested in a moat of bourbon Anglaise. The whole affair was topped with candied pecans that were just the slightest bit peppery. The experience was made all the better accompanied by French press coffee and fresh cream.
Diners can sit in the comfortable dining room or on the porch, and you can even relax in a classic rocking chair or swing while you wait for your table.
We left satiated and happy and look forward to returning in the near future. Highly...
Read moreWelcome: We arrived around 7PM and had a 45-minute wait time for a table that was already set. The ambiance of the restaurant gives off amber vibes with an upbeat music playlist creating a warm atmosphere for guests. Please note that, despite the wait, they were short 2 napkins and forks. Additionally, we were provided knives late — after entrées were already served.
Appetizers: The fries were crisp to satisfaction with no soft or soggy texture. The ketchup has a hint of mustard giving it a slight kick. The restaurant also offers a varied selection of hot sauces.
Bar: Offers a wide selection of whiskey, your common beers, and a variety of old fashioned options. The bartender carded a select few customers that were requesting an alcoholic beverage. Our party appreciated that the juices offered were prepared in-house.
Dining: Water is served in a mason jar. Having ordered the Chicken & Waffle entrée, the waffle is slightly crisp on the edge, while mostly erring on the side of being soft, but not soggy. This includes where there was no contact with the egg, which was prepared sunny-side up and was well done. The maple syrup was relatively diluted, and the gravy was lightly salted as if complimented with mashed potatoes. Additionally, my party said that the grits they ordered would have been served better separate from the seasoning and the cheese.
Dessert: Requested one slice of whiskey cake for a party of 6, as they tend to be relatively large in size. Provided preference of keeping whipped cream on the side, or on top (Image of 6th of a slice). The whipped cream smoothly balances out the firm texture of the cake with the pecan. Simultaneously, it balanced out the sweetness of the whiskey and syrup within the cake. Consider a rum-infused, pecan brittled brownie evened out with a...
