McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in Converse

I'm glad to finally see something new in the neighborhood. The location was very busy and the food took a little longer than expected but it's always worth it when the food is fresh and well prepared. The young lady who helped me at the counter (Jackie) and the other lady (Brenda) were extremely helpful and very courteous. It's very rare to find great customer service in the area so it's like a ray of sunshine on a gloomy, rainy day. I think once the staff has a bit more experience this place will be cranking away in no time and the service will only improve. Props to management for the well trained employees. To anyone that is ordering from this location, remember that the establishment is new and I'm sure that most of the employees have never worked in a McAllisters before. Be patient with them and know that their goal is to get you fresh, correct orders but it's still a learning curve for them. Eventually it will come as second nature with more experience. If you Door Dash or any other delivery service, you're only setting yourself up for disappointment. This style of food is better when eaten at location and will make for a much better overall experience. Although some deliveries are much quicker nothing beats fresh out of the kitchen food served with a smile. Be gracious that we have a McAllisters in our neighborhood and understand that in time they will get more efficient and accurate....

I usually don't leave reviews for chain restaurants but the management & staff here is so phenomenal I just have to. We get McAlister's probably at least once a month as it's a quick convientent healthier dinner & has gluten free options for me. Also the reward system is pretty generous. Sandwiches and salads are always tasty. Everything I've tried is always delicious & fresh. I also really love that they cut the grapes in half with the kids fruit cup! My daughter also loves the turkey cheese sandwich & it's the only time she eats deli meats. I'm personally obsessed with the ultimate nachos & love getting them to-go because then I can make each bite perfectly at home. Today they forgot my nachos. The husband went back to get them as I was really craving them. I called the restaurant & the manager Brenda compensated us for the nachos, the kids meal & threw in an extra cookie. I really appreciated the excellent customer service. She really went above and beyond and was so friendly too. All the other employees we have interacted with have also been friendly and provided great customer service. If you are looking for a good lunch or dinner spot, then definitely try them out! So I was excited to try out the new location here. Converse never offers much around as far as eateries with great service. And with McAlister's reputation I assumed it would be great! But I must say I was a little disappointed. First off...it was like 35 degrees in there at least. My cashier was great and helped with suggestions. But there was other staff members there just laughing and giggling around when there was stuff that obviously needed to be done and guest that needed to be taken care of. It shouldn't just be the one guy who's running the counter. He was taking orders and my sandwich sat in the window a little bit. Of course he was finally able to bring it to me and it was delicious as always. Just hard to eat it in a freezing dining room. How long has it been since opening? About a month? Please step it up and don't end up like all the other restaurants...
