Came here for the first time on a very excited note, however, that was not the case. The food is over priced and they serve what called kids size food. I ordered Vaca frita with yuca and arroz congri and a fruit shake. The congri came cold but tried to eat it and couldn't. The vaca frita meat came cold as well and I tried to eat it cold as well but I felt like I was going to get sick. I called the lady waitress and explained to her that my food was cold. She took my plate and a few minutes later, the same food came back. Rice was as hot as it should've been but the vaca frita meat was a little warm.
I ate it because I was hungry but, I won't be visiting this place that I was hoping with excitement and expectations.
Recommendations: 1-if you're going to charge over $17 for a very small amount of food that includes a very small amount of cheap rice and flavorless vaca frita, it should at least be served hot to customers. Additionally, your portions are for kids. My wife had to ask for more yuca since she was given three pieces for a plate that cost $17.
I have attached a photo of Vaca Frita!
The place is small and they have a Latin American grocery store next door!
In closing, this is one of the few places that I have given a two or less stars and would hope that you take this constructive review to improve your food...
Read moreToday I ate lunch at Q’Bola Cuban restaurant in Converse (outskirts of San Antonio)which opened on Wednesday of this last week. I was looking forward to it since the owners also own Cuban Grocery next door. I was very excited since this is the first Cuban restaurant owned 100% by Cubans in the San Antonio area, and so is the chef and staff. I spoke with the manager Iordano whom I had briefly met before and he suggested I try the ropa vieja so I ordered that with white rice, black beans and a side of sweet plantains. As an appetizer I ordered tostones rellenos (stuffed plantains) with shrimp and it was mouthwatering delicious. The ropa vieja was delicious and so were the side dishes. Aleida, a staff member, suggested I try her signature Mamey shake and it was amazing. The place was getting full since word of mouth had already spread of its opening. The grand opening is next weekend since this week was the soft opening. Other dishes that were being ordered included pork onion steak, Cuban tamal, paella, croquettes, and guava with cream cheese for dessert and so much more. Their hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 11 AM to 7 PM and on the weekends until 9 PM. Go check it out. 8340 FM 78, Converse, Texas 78109. It is in a shopping center where there is a Planet Fitness, a Starbucks, and many...
Read moreThis little place was cute but the food is bland. Ordered the vaca frita and it wasn't good at all. Dry, flavorless, and cold entirely. The congri was good but it was cold, the only good thing about the platter was the maduros. The cook was also being very rude and disrespectful to the waitress who was great and trying to do her job. That also added to the negative energy at the restaurant. The only good part about the experience was the waitress and the maduros. She deserves a raise for being able to hold her composure and remain professional when being disrespected by a fellow colleague. And the cook deserves to be fired for making bland disappointing food, being unprofessional, and disrespectful towards a co worker. On top of that the food made my stomach hurt so bad, l've been on the toilet the whole time since eating the food. So not only is the cook disrespectful but also dangerous behind the grill because clearly the food...
