Long story short, wow this place is awesome.
Three of us went to Mountain Moose on a cold rainy Saturday night craving authentic Asian food, specially noodles in broth and buns. I had not heard much about this place and am always weary when some jokers think they can just pull of this sort of cuisine with a snap of their fingers. It's not easy. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked into the former Brandli's where I have spent my formative years getting decent slices of pizza, to see it entirely transformed into a very clean and welcoming atmosphere. The pizza oven remains, a testament to the glory days of OVP. However Mountain Moose has taken over with modern furniture, warm lighting, and a very happy and helpful staff. I cannot wait for the beer garden to be up and running.
One thing that bothers me about so many restaurants in NoCo is the menu reads like an NFL playbook with 1000 options, none of which are executed properly. Pick one thing and do it well. Mountain Moose has a smaller, manageable and acute menu, they aren't trying to be the Swiss Army Knife of dining experiences. AND THEY CRUSHED IT. We had Pho, Beef Vietnamese Boon and Khao Soi. Everything was so fresh, their sauce and broth game was incredible, balanced and aromatic. Veggies and meats were sliced properly, soft boiled eggs were perfect. The execution was perfect, presentation great, and the prices were quite better when compared to other restaurants in town. Mountain Moose is high caliber, offered a great and easy dining experience. I cannot remember the last time I walked out of a new restaurant in town and said WOW, I cannot...
Read moreLovely place to enjoy a warm bowl of soup on a cold winter day. It’s conveniently located so after doing winter activities you can come here and have a delicious meal. The decoration is cute, staff is friendly, and the restaurant is clean. They have cute music playing as well.
We ordered beef bun and roti canai for appetizers. The bun was soft and the beef was so well seasoned, we loved it. The roti was flaky and crispy all by itself, just enhanced by the sauce.
We got the dan dan bowl and khao soi bowl. They both had nice aromatic broths that were delicious to sip. The noodle portions were huge, meat was generous, and the extra vegetable added on were so fresh. Eating this bowl felt like someone really put love and care into it. The staff are welcoming and it just feels like a nice place to be. I highly recommend if you’re in the area or shopping at the outlets, you won’t be disappointed.
They also serve alcohol and have their own cocktails, but we didn’t try them. It’s definitely more casual as you order at the counter and bus your own table. But the food...
Read moreVery surprised to find this quality of SE Asian food in an outlet mall in the White Mountains! The buns seemed pricey at first but were stuffed to the brim with yummy goodness. Could have used more pickled veggies in one of them, but the fact they even had pickled veggies like a good banh mi sandwich--again, a great surprise! The orange chicken was tasty with fresh peppers and onion, but a bit too much sauce for the rice bowl, overpowering the rice at the bottom. The mountain moose special was a unique combo of Japanese and SE Asian flavors and ingredients... A bit of a risk, but if you like laksa, then it was great. The veg and herb ingredients were fresh and the cooked beef, egg, etc. were made with care. The ramen noodle was a decent quality comparable with any big city ramen shop. Will want to try the regular ramen dish next time! Again, a great place with the quality of food living up to what seemed like high prices for asian food, but normal prices for a tourist town. And they had a selection of local beers available as a nice bonus on a...
