Don't waste your time! The only two trail markers we saw, one yellow & the other red, were at the trailhead by LL Bean. We first tried the "yellow trail" which should have taken us to the river. No markers at all & the trail divided with no indication which way to go. We tried each with no luck as they both were so overgrown any semblance of a trail could barely be seen. We backtracked to the trailhead & tried the "red trail"; but again no other markers and in short order the trail was obliterated by overgrowth including poison ivy. So, once again we went back to the trailhead and instead of hiking we browsed LL Bean. As an aside, there are signs all over the parking lot that parking is for LL Bean only, and not for "river access". This is interesting because the instructions for the Dahl Sanctuary indicate trailhead access is from the LL Bean...
