The quality of the bread was bad. You could tell the wheat baguette was previously frozen, which I don't mind, but mine I had could reflect the second rate quality. The presentation of the meals on a pizza pan with a 12x12 paper logo liner on top devalues the "upper class fast casual" concept this chain is going for. Nothing against this location at all with that concern. The staff was nice upon entering and promptly took my order. The person who brought the meal out was also nice. However, unlike their main competitor, McAlisters, they didn't offer refills or come by to check or prebuss while I was there. It was clean, which should be it's only been open a month. I would suggest better cleanliness on the window shield that goes around the open kitchen. That's a tough one though as many guest look on and children with their hands that go everywhere. It just gives an unclean vibe to what I'm sure is a very clean kitchen. The quality of the lettuce is supber compared to McAlisters which uses bagged lettuce. I could tell Newks uses fresh lettuce that is hand chopped daily. I would rate their salads, as far a presentation and quality...
Read moreWe used to eat at Newk's all over the place. We're very health-conscious and enjoyed having a good sandwich/soup chain that seemed to be healthy and reasonably fresh, and also not a rip-off like Panera.
However, after analyzing how we felt physically a couple of times after eating here, I dug around and viewed their nutritional information on their menu. I generally order the turkey and avocado sandwich.
I was absolutely SHOCKED to find out that their turkey avocado sandwich - which consists of BREAD, TURKEY, AVOCADO, TOMATOES, CHEESE, MAYONNAISE AND ARUGULA - contains a WHOPPING 2,030mg of sodium!! In ONE sandwich!! I mean - that's double what a Big Mac has. More than double what a Whopper has!
I honestly have NO idea how they manage to cram in over 2,000mg of sodium to a turkey and avocado sandwich - but finding this out marked the last time we ate there. The ramen-face the next morning was just too much for us....
Read moreI ordered the Grilled Steak Sandwich from this place online for pickup. I added red and green bell peppers. When I picked it up and got home, the sandwich from the start looked like mostly bread.... But wait! There's more.. half of the sandwich had nearly no meat and TONS of onions. Get this... NO peppers at all . . . The other side had no onions nearly all the meat.. (which even if separated throughout the entire sandwich would have been a bit skimpy anyway.) But, lucky me, I got one whole sliver of red bell pepper on that side.... To top it ALL off.. there was hardly any "sauce" on the sandwich too!! It was dry as a bone! (Besides the pile of onions on the other side). Save your hard earned money . . Order elsewhere. These guys obviously don't take pride in their jobs.. if I could give this review zero...
