While I can appreciate the desire to have and to run an old time-ish ice cream parlor, this isn't it. The ice cream is all Blue Bell branded, which is fine I suppose, but leaves very little room for creativity. The prices everywhere are just going up and up, but I honestly don't understand how two scoops of (Blue Bell) ice cream, a dollop of canned whipped cream, and some microwaved hot fudge can or should cost almost ten dollars.
At those kinds of prices (and seriously - seventy five cents to add a scoop or two of malt out of a large can of Carnation Malt Powder that you can get at a Costco Business Center for under fifteen dollars is just the cherry on top of the trending towards absurd pricing structure), I would expect original handcrafted ice cream choices. Real cream out of a metal can whipped cream. Some hot fudge that wasn't microwaved in a plastic container and dumped on the sundae.
Maybe a part of the problem is the price demanded by the location, as it's tucked in a touristy hole begging for folks to come spend money.. I don't know. Either way, sometimes you get a hit and sometimes a miss when trying new places....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I were exploring Old Town Conyers, for the first time, and decided to try this ice cream shop, based on a recommendation. We waited patiently while another couple was being served. After the couple left, we were excitedingly waiting for her to acknowledge us. However, the older woman stood, in front of us ,lifelessly staring out the window. There was such a long and very awkward silence. I asked her how her day was going and she was ready to go home. She responded, both times, avoiding eye contact. Then she said I doesn't go home for another 2 hours and proceeds to walk toward opposite end of the dessert counter. Hubby looked over at me and we left. We went to Sweet Treat Depot for Gelato, across the street. Immediately, upon entering, were greeted, asked if this was out first time, told about the specials. A world of difference. Hey I don't know what the problem was but we could allow this moment to ruin our day. You've...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe guy who owns it is kind of a jerk. We walked in looking to buy ice cream and two of us had to use the restroom. By the time I got back we had decided to not get anything and leave. The owner insisted that "one of us should buy something just to be polite." We bought the smallest cup of ice cream and a water to meet the minimum and left it outside on the table. What we should have said is I'm sorry your business looks like it's dying and smells like old people. I don't really have a legitimate review to give, but I'm guessing based on this guys attitude he's not doing well and that's probably due to the quality of the ice cream... or...
