, I didn't stop ten mins before closing time, but a full hour and a half BEFORE their scheduled/posted closing time. 90 mins before closing. Needless to say, i was dumbfounded by this, but managed to ask just to make sure I heard him right and understood. 'So if I want to purchase anything other than a few sides, I will have to leave because y'all are out of most everything and not cooking anymore even though you still have 90 mins left." He shook his head yes. No apologies or explanations as to why Popeyes was out of chicken so early. While standing at the counter I could see the other employees cleaning up. Also on the tray underneath the heat lamp, was a handful of chicken pieces (breast, leg, thigh, etc). I asked about those pieces and he informed me that they were just crumbs and they only had a few sides to pick from. He may have been saving me from really old chicken but I can tell you it wasn't crumbs, and we were starving. I can understand wanting to get out early and have everything done when shifts over, but if they were clearly out of food and quit cooking, why even bother keeping the lights on? Again, I have no idea the process or trouble or the mess and time required to cook and clean up by cooking chicken there, so it may be completely plausible needing 90 mins. But I can't help but feel it wouldn't take an hour and a half and it shouldn't been a problem to eat here. I also want to add that in case somebody was thinking maybe they were closing because they were slow, that would make sense but no explanation was ever given as to why they were closing early, and there were two separate tables if people sitting and eating at each. (I was tempted to ask where they got their food to be able to eat but I was just having a hard time wrapping my head around the entire situation). Ended up leaving and going to Subway. Maybe I am overreacting and the one being unreasonable. IF that's the case, please let me know and I will remove this post, apologize, and change my rating. It had been a long day, I was hungry and I had two grumpy, hungry 15-year-old teenage girls with me so I I could've just been worn out mentally from them and over sensitive to the...
Read moreWhen Popeyes opened in Cookeville, I couldn't wait to try it. The first time I ate there, I was so happy with the food and service. I recommended it to everyone. Every visit after that was progressively worse! They have a hard time getting an order right, and the quality is hit or miss, or they are out of something. Sometimes it's all three of those things! I believe the only thing they sell less than 2 hours before closing is scraps.
Tonight was the first time I had been there in about a year. I figured they might have gotten their act together. NOPE! . I was very hungry and, as I was elsewhere in town, I thought I would save time by downloading the app and get my order started. Setting up an account and placing the order went smoothly. Once I arrived it took a very long time for the person running the register to acknowledge my presence, I was the only one in the dinning room, and that was only because I started speaking. I told her I had a mobile order, and she had to ask a coworker who was also clueless. He in turn asked the manager. The manager pulled three receipts off the printer right by the register the first girl was "running" The manager finally told me they didn't have any bone in chicken for the 10 piece family meal I ordered. That was the problem the last time I was there, nearly a year ago. She said they couldn't give a refund and that I would have to get it from the app or something. I asked, what are we going to do about it? She said they'd have some tomorrow. She handed me the receipt. I asked her to make a note on it, so I wouldn't come in to a bunch of clueless people tomorrow. I just want my money back! I'm done...
Read moreThis one is long. I like me some Popeyes and was excited when they opened up here a year or so ago. Unfortunately I've spent more times leaving the place because they are out of sandwiches, or their fryer is down, or some other excuse, than I have actually eating there. I have had to wait upwards of 25 minutes on food on more than 1 occasion. Ive let it slide because "growing pains". But today was kinda the last straw honestly and whoever the manager/ownership is over there needs to hand it off to someone else. I ordered 2 chicken sandwich meals for my family with 2 diet cokes, and then shrimp and a small fry for the little one. After waiting almost 10 minutes for the truck in front of me to get their food, I pull up to the window. The man tells me it will be 8 minutes on shrimp (why they weren't in the process of cooking them while I was waiting is beyond me). I say cancel the shrimp, no problem. He hands me two diet cokes with no ice (not what was asked and I didn't want warm drinks). Then he hands me a bag with sandwiches and hands me a box of fries and said they combined the two fries into one box (as if it was more convenient, its not.) The box was fairly empty, I would guess there was 1 medium fry worth in it. OH and they shorted the small fry for my kid. We get home after 10 minutes and the buns were cold,, definitely werent hot like they usually are. Hope this place closes up so it doesn't tease me anymore with its signage. Hell I know its just chicken sandwiches and I should just eat at home, but can't a man have a good experience at this...
