Motel 6 Cookeville, TN — Hotel in Cookeville

Motel 6 has always been my hotel of choice when staying over anywhere. I've always had a good experience staying there. I love the low prices and that they are always close to the places I might need to use (gas stations, convince markets, Walmart etc.) I don't need an expensive room when I travel, I don't plan on "living" in it. It's a place to shower and sleep. Motel 6 has always been great for that. I recently stayed at the hotel in Cookeville. I took one of the older rooms in the back, #125. Even though it was one of the older rooms it was still fairly clean and comfortable, I normally would have no complaints. This is one time however I have to put a black mark on their image in my eyes. Two things stand out as a negative on this stay. Number One, I had a non smoking room and the first thing I noticed when I came in the room were holes in the bed spread from cigarette smoking. (I noticed this comment on several reviews about the hotel). I can live with that since I know the spreads and blankets are probably used on all rooms regardless, after they are washed. At least I hope that is the case. Still non-smokers are very sensitive to things like this - I did not notice a smell of cigarette smoke in the room though, as was reported on other reviews - I suggest that the hotel needs to purchase new bedding and try not to wash the blankets and spreads from smoking rooms in with the non-smoking. Now for number two. Bed Bugs. Yes, I was bitten by bed bugs during my one night stay. I had several bites on a couple of places on my body, especially my right arm. I was actually able to see the bug while sitting on the bed. It crawled out on to the top sheet. I was able to kill it and kept it in a zip-lock bag and showed it to the clerk at check out. She apologized and she assured me they try really hard to prevent the bugs and I'm sure they do try. I'm sure it can be hard to prevent them especially since they are so prevalent. Still, I explained I had to bring it to their attention so the room could be treated and that it wouldn't happen to another guest who might be a great deal more upset. One incident I'm willing to forgive especially in light of the many other positive reviews they seem to receive. This could be a one time thing, it might be because I had a room in the older part of the hotel or that the bug(s) were brought in by other guests. Either way, the problem still needs to be brought to their attention and I hope they do take it seriously and get the room(s) treated immediately. Even with this bad experience, I think I would still try staying here again. Maybe the newer rooms, up front, are a bit better. The people at the front desk are really nice and the rooms are a good price and appear clean and efficient for the most part. I'll give them a low "3" on this trip and hope for a better experience if I try them again in...

Every one is saying this is a great hotel apparently I stayed at a bad time... Our stay was 02/05/19-02/08/19 We drive 18 wheeler and having work done at a local shop - and we typically always stay with motel 6 - (Tammy was amazing with booking and check in ) Anyhoo We got non smoking- room... smells of cigarettes but not to the point we had to say anything cigarettes burns in top blanket- Bathroom Needs to be fixed upstairs bathroom is leaking into our bathroom. Room 126 My floors were FILTHY -(didn't say anything just went to Walmart and bought a mop and bucket ) There was food still in my fridge - (I dint complain or say anything just tossed it out )On 02/07/19 The building manager MOE demanded a room check when I called the front dest to ask about a do not disturb sign as we didn't want services prior day check out( that they no longer offer)Later that evening we went did laundry at a local laundry mat and went to have dinner. We come back to our room to find that our room keys (both ) are not working. I drove to the front desk office and "Donald " is the front desk service personal. I went in and let him know my room keys are not working and ask to please re activate then he asks for room number and name in witch I given him promptly- he then tells me my husband AND I need to show ids to get room keys - at this point I'm frustrated I get my husband and tell my husband in front of "Donald" he needs our ID for some reason ... Donald then says to me "I can call the police and have YOU escorted off the property instead" I then ask if mo is available because I dont feel that's proper consumer service and I can guarantee I will be telling every one I know and come by dont say at motel 6. Wouldn’t go to this hotel if you didn’t want bedbugs. We checked in a little after midnight after a long road trip and the front desk lady was nice at first. Very talkative seemed a little off but friendly. We finally got to our room. I always check the beds for bedbugs just in case. To my surprise there actually were bedbugs I was disgusted. I knew I wasn’t going to stay in the room but still I inspected the rest for aGoogle review. There was blood on my “clean towels “there was one towel missing. The floor was dirty and there was hair in my bed. Not just one hair, LOTS it couldn’t have come from me I haven’t even laid in the bed yet!! was very obvious they had not cleaned the bed the sheets were filthy. I didn’t want to be in that room anymore because I felt disgusted. When I went to go get my money back the clerk was very rude said she would see if there actually were problems with the room and that if there were and that if I wasn’t lying then she would switch me to a different room. When I told her I didn’t want to go to a different room but I just want my money back to find a new hotel because they had bedbugs a different guest overheard me and asked me if he heard me right I said yes and she flat out said “she’s a liar there are no bedbugs. “I had to come back the next morning to speak to the manager and get my money back this was the worst experience I’ve ever had at any hotel I would definitely not come here.
