From the moment you walk into Ichimi, you can tell this isn’t your average ramen shop. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between modern and cozy, with its industrial-chic decor and relaxed atmosphere. Whether you’re a ramen enthusiast or just looking for something different, Ichimi delivers a memorable experience.
🍜 The Food
The star of the show is, without a doubt, the ramen. The Tonkotsu broth is rich, creamy, and full of depth—exactly what you want from a slow-simmered, pork-based soup. You’ll find a variety of ramen options here, including classic bowls, Tsukemen (dipping-style noodles), and even cold ramen dishes, each crafted with care and attention to detail.
Beyond ramen, the izakaya-style small plates are just as impressive. Highlights include: • Pork Belly Bao – fluffy, savory, and melt-in-your-mouth good. • Scallion Pancakes with Yuzu Sauce – crispy and citrusy with a creative twist. • Uni Taco – visually stunning and flavor-packed, with a crispy shiso tempura shell and layers of uni, wagyu, and a shiso foam. Absolutely unique.
✅ What Works Well • Great Service: Staff are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. • Atmosphere: Laid-back and welcoming, perfect for a solo visit or a relaxed dinner with friends. • Portion Size: Generous servings, especially compared to typical high-end ramen places. • Diverse Menu: Offers more than just ramen – think rice bowls, seafood, vegetarian options, and creative small plates.
⚠️ What Could Be Better • Busy During Peak Hours: It can get crowded, so try to visit during off-peak times. • Occasional Menu Gaps: Some dishes may be unavailable depending on the day or time. • Pork Brisket Texture: One dish that sometimes draws mixed reviews—some find it a bit dry. • Restroom Location: A small note, but it can be tricky to find on your first visit.

Read moreThe worst experience ever! My first visit to this specific location. My friend (who had tasted their ramen before) asked if they could make the soup slightly lighter (maybe add some hot water?) as we prefer less salty and grassy. Our server, John replied it's not possible as the broth was made as it is. So we asked for two cups of hot water so we could dilute on our own. The restaurant is less than half full on a Monday evening, very soon our appetizer, Pork Belly Bao came, soon after that, two bowls of ramen followed. We waited for few minutes and still no hot water so we asked another waitress who came to the table to fill up our water glass. She said they don't have hot water in the restaurant! So we asked for John again, and he replied 3 minutes. Couple minutes went by, still nothing, and the ramen got warm, not hot anymore, couple waiters were standing by the kitchen entrance chatting so we asked again, and he replied one minute but nothing arrived. Suddenly we saw they sent a cup of hot beverage to another customer. My friend decided to go up to the back and asked for the manager if we could get two cups of hot water as our ramen was getting cold and hot water never arrived. They apologized and replaced new ramen for us, which was nice! Two minutes went by, finally John delivered two cups of hot water to our table and said, "This is the last time our restaurant would provide hot water!" (Again, this is my very first time). Several minutes later, John brought two bowls of new ramen and said, "We made the broth less salty for you!" But we were told at the first place IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE to do so?! Another girl brought us two bottles of hot water in hot sake bottle couple minutes after. (Apparently they could make hot water very soon!) I should have stick with Izakaya where I've been going for over 20 years. For sure, I'd NEVER RETURN TO...
Read moreIn a place known for its Latin American cuisine we somehow found a gem in Ichimi, a ramen spot located in the posh Coral Gables neighborhood. The atmosphere feels very intimate and the service is quick and good. We ordered the scallion pancakes and pork gyoza as openers. They arrived quickly and warmly but their flavor was a bit lacking. The scallion pancakes in particular came with hoisin on it which wasn’t bad but it did take away from the natural scallion flavor a bit. They were also served with a side of cream cheese which I found a bit odd. As for the gyoza it was soft and lacked a bit of flavor but wasn’t necessarily bad, just a bit underwhelming.
Moving onto the main dishes, our party ordered a number of dishes but we personally had the soul and black dragon ramens. The soul ramen was a light and buttery tonkotsu ramen with tender noodles that brought the whole dish together; it was very good. The black dragon ramen was also very good, albeit very very garlic. It has a deep flavor that feels bold so if that’s not your thing then choose something else. An important thing to note is that these bowls were not only on the cheaper side but they were also very generous with their toppings which really is something we highly value. It is very rare to find a place that will give you a full egg and they did here. Not to mention the ramen came out very fast and everyone liked their ramen, and that’s big praise from a family who eats a LOT of ramen. Ichimi was extremely impressive. From its quaint, unassuming atmosphere to its flavorful broth and generous toppings. We highly recommend stopping by here if you’re in the Coral Gables area or Miami for that matter. Or if you are as equally obsessed with...
