I never write reviews but believe me when I tell you this was legitimately the worst food and dining experience of my life.
Here is my very detailed review to back it up.
So it started like this, We walk in and there was not a single employee who could speak English. I was with a Spanish speaker so it wasn’t the end of the world, and even though it’s a Latin restaurant yes, it’s brand new and not a single server in a Coral Springs restaurant could even so much as simply take my order if truly needed?
So we go to order waters for the table, but they only offer bottled Aquafina water for $2 each. Your normal free water option is straight from a sink here, absolutely no filtration, so that’s a no.
So we go to order our food and the menu lists certain entrees come with 2 sides and then some with 3 and then the majority of the menu it says nothing. No mention at all of anything coming with sides. Just a slab of meat and nothing else essentially. So then the waiter tells our Spanish speaker that they all come with any 3 sides. (Come to find out at the end of the meal they charged us for one of the sides without telling us)
We then order 3 different carne (beef) dishes. My girlfriends dish comes out covereddd in onions which she never eats. The problem was it said no where on the menu that onions were apart of the meal. Nor were any of us informed by the server. My mixed vegetables also come out covered in cheese, same thing. Not informed by menu or server.
Mixed vegetables were also broccoli cauliflower and carrots.. sounded like they were just getting bags of Walmart frozen bags and steaming and seasoning them, and when the food comes out it definitely seems that’s exactly like what they do.
Now for the worst part, the steaks. Let me tell you I’m not picky and I’m very timid. I just take what I’m given, an “it is what it is” mentality. But these steaks were literally something I would feed to my dog. The cut, the color, everything. They were sooo tough and we both ordered rare. I mean I could hardly cut them it kept shaking the table and splashing back at both of us even with steak knives level of tough, it was horrible. I ordered a skirt steak but received god knows what. It was covered in fat and grizzle absolutely everywhere. Not to mention the meat was most definitely not rare. Very well done. I literally couldn’t even touch it. The rice was cold and beans tasted out of a can. Tostones were overcooked and left out maybe because they were stale and dry bricks.
I had enough, we asked for a manager but nothing. I wanted to simply pay for our drinks, a decent san cocho, and leave a really nice tip for the trouble because I was a server before and we were the only customers in there at 3pm so I get it.
But no nothing, no one to help resolve anything just a man in basic shorts and shirts coming behind the counter yelling and was very aggressive and threatening to us and immediately escalating things because he was worried we wouldn’t pay.
Since well to be fair that’s exactly what I was trying to communicate with them but in a civil manner. If you can’t provide remotely acceptable food for $20 an entree for a basic skirt steak. Then why should I pay for that meal that is essentially inedible.
The situation was getting wayyy out of hand and unprofessional to the point where I decided to just pay so we can escape the threatening situation. I’ll surely be refuting this with my credit card company and I’ll never be stepping foot in...
Read moreI make this review with the knowledge that reviews can have great power in our community. There are positives and negatives and the positives completely smother the negatives, with a feather pillow. When I walked in there was a language barrier. I asked three times for a table for one and someone who was bilingual came out to help me, the two ladies at the front did not understand me. If you speak Spanish this is obviously a non issue. The meal that I got was absolutely heavenly. The rice was buttery. The pork was perfectly fried and eye-catching. It made my heart happy! The Carne Asada was okay, I will try a different protein next time. The avocado was creamy and ripe. I am not a fan of chorizo, and I devoured the chorizo. I don’t like beans and I can tell you… I’d like to bathe in these beans. The Arepa failed to impress and should not have been sent out. The plate could’ve been brought out when it was ready and a fresh arepa prepared afterwards. It was visibly charred, tasted burnt and plain of flavor. The sangria completely won me over. It is served with a fruit popsicle, a unique take on sangria that I have never before experienced and deeply enjoyed, super fun, with refreshing flavor. In the spirit of honesty, The bathroom was out of soap and the toilet didn’t want to flush. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. I look forward to bringing friends here another time. I hope that this restaurant does well. El Colombiano adds an enjoyable culinary experience to Coral Springs.
I will try it again another time and hopefully be able to change my rating to 5 stars. Look forward...
Read moreMy son in law's friend bought some food from here, they let him try Bandeja Paisa and he liked the chicharrón in it, so next day he said, let's go try it. He usually go to another Colombian restaurant but decided to give this one a try. He order Bandeja Paisa, and a small Ajiaco , but instead of the steak, he wanted the shredded meat,, my daughter ordered the fish filete with rice and beans, my son ordered the Hamburguesa Colombiana, and I ordered Ajiaco. None of our meals had good flavor, it was not tasty. The shredded meat im the Paisa was like some kind of ground beef with no seasoning, taste or color, it actually taste like spoiled or like the meat was raw. The Hamburguesa had the same taste or mell as the ground beef from the Bandeja Paisa. My daughter didn't eat the fish. We didn't finish our meals. It was not like we thought it was going to be. When we got home we all ended up with stomach ache and multiple trips to the bathroom having diarreah. It hit us all at once. I took food to go foe my husband, chicken steak with rice and beans and tostones. The tistones were greasy and old. No bueno. He didn't like it, rice was salty, he said, and the chicken lacked of flavor. I took my son's hamburguesa home with the intention to give it to our Rottweiler, but decided not to. It will probably make him sick and the cost of the Veterinary will be higher than the food itself. Y'all already know that we will never ever come back to this restaurant. The ladies were nice and their good customer service doesn't match the food....
