Honestly when I seen the 4.8 Stars I expected so much more, the portion seemed kind of small, I had thought that the price of the torta was pretty good, until I realized that it was smaller than most other places, also did not even come with sides, and the bread was less than appealing. The nachos were pretty bland, lacking flavor, and the music was so loud that my wife and I almost had to yell at each other in order to communicate. However to be fair, the drinks were good and the Margaritas come at an amazing price, the staff was friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was pretty good other than the unnecessarily loud music and I can say that the al pastor was amazing(which is not something I can say for very many places in Eastern Iowa) and the sauces were pretty good and everything that I had seen had great...

Serious contender for best Mexican spot in the Corridor -- no question best birria and barbacoa in the area. The portions were great and the corn quesadilla (can't remember the name) was outstanding. Also loved the salsas, particularly both red ones. So good! Can't wait to come back, thank you!

Edit: 3 visits and 3 mind-blowingly good meals. One of the only places where I'm just stoked to explore the entire menu. The burritos Chihuahua I have never seen before and each one of them are so freaking good. If you've never tried it, treat yourself to the picadillo - just incredible. You guys rock and I'm so grateful to enjoy your work!

Edit2: Seriously do yourself a favor and get a Chile Relleno Burrito...

We stopped in with the team on our road trip home after a competition. Easy access off 218, 380, & 80, and right near the EV charger. Plus it was very convenient for my family in the area to meet up with us there.

The food was delicious and authentic. I’ve never had a quesadilla with the cheese so crispy inside. Amazing. The asada tostadas were fabulous. Everyone loved what they got. Service was efficient and friendly.

I also love that there is a Mexican grocery store attached with many hard to find specialty items.

We will definitely be back, and so will my local family....

Friendly employees, authentic Mexican feel, great grocery store, and the BEST and most authentic Mexican food I've had in Iowa. I travel to Mexico for a few weeks every year, and it felt like I was right back there with that first bite of the taco. It is probably in the top 3 best tacos I've ever had and #1 in Iowa, and I go out of my way to try to find great tacos wherever I go. If you need to get good tacos, it is worth going there. We made the 30-minute drive just to go and get tacos there. It is a religious experience to eat those tacos, so I highly recommend them.

Amazing food, a nice casual environment, and great drinks! We visited La Mexicana last night and definitely weren't disappointed. All their food has SO much flavor. I am so used to boiled, tasteless ground beef around here - not at La Mexicana, there's is so full of flavor! Defintely a better experience than your run of the mill mexican restaurant. I loved the varitey of sauces as well. Everything we tasted was so delicious, I can't wait to come back and try everything on the menu!
