If I could leave less than one star, I would. Drove an hour to eat here because we heard good things. Wasn’t greeted when we walked in and still patiently waited for a table. After getting seated, the server was in such a hurry to give us silverware that she didn’t even get our drink order. Waited another 10 mins for drinks. Sweet tea was wayyyyyyy too sweet, but to each their own, my husband just asked for a half of a glass of unsweet tea to make it better. He didn’t even complain about the sweet tea. Got our order taken, I ate a salad off the salad bar and it was good (the only good thing about the whole experience). My husband ordered a medium rare steak, French fries, and sautéed mushrooms. I ordered a medium steak with a loaded baked potato. Food comes out, he still doesn’t have the half glass of unsweetened tea he asked for. His steak is over cooked and so is mine. He gets a loaded baked potato and I get a baked potato with extra sour cream and butter. I asked again for the half glass of unsweet tea, she is walking away and nods her head. Tried to stop the server twice to let her know food was wrong before she finally stopped and then gets offended that the steaks are overcooked and the sides aren’t right. My husband even says that the loaded baked potato he got was fine and she says “well that is someone else’s food though” then walks off. So we are both like okay?!?!? She comes back and slams the unsweet tea down on the table and I ask for a manager and she doesn’t even answer me and asks why I tell her why and then she says “I’m going to fix that potato for you”. And walks off. She comes back with the loaded baked potato and I said, “I don’t even want that, I want a ticket for the drinks and the salad”. She again gets offended and has an attitude and walks off. Waited another 10 mins and didn’t get the ticket. I left money on the table, probably more than what the drinks and salad was even worth and we walk out.
After all that, all I can say is we won’t ever be back. Was a horrible experience from the start and we still TRIED to make it better but there wasn’t ANYTHING good about this...
Read moreI was traveling for work and ended up in Corinth, MS. I have been in the area before, but never really explored the town. I was at another establishment in the city and was told of this steakhouse. It was a must. From the very second you walk through the doors, you get that old school steakhouse vibe. It’s warm and inviting, in the best way possible. The open flame, the sizzling of the steak (and chicken) the bell hanging over the grill, and the cooks working shoulder to shoulder over the old school brick pit is all a part of the experience. The entire restaurant was full yet I was waited on in a very timely manner. I ordered a ribeye and added on a chicken breast, a trip to the salad bar and a mushroom / onion mixture. Everything was delicious. The salad bar hosted a variety of options to choose from. It was all fresh! The steak and chicken had a wonderful flavor, likely from their “secret” sauce kept nearby the grill they later on the meat but also from the charcoal smoldering underneath the meat. Both meats I ordered were very high quality. I was highly impressed with every aspect of this restaurant. The whole staff was pleasant and went above and beyond to deliver a great experience. I didn’t get any photos of my food inside, but I ordered to go the day before and snapped a to go order. If you appreciate the kind of place that keeps it old school and authentic, Russel’s is a place to stop. For me, it is a destination restaurant. I will most certainly be back in the near future and bring some others with me. I can’t speak highly enough of...
Read moreNever going back. Hubby and I ordered the same kind of steak, but he got the larger size, while I ordered small.
We both received the smaller cut, but were charged as if he received the larger size. A larger cut should be a thicker steak, but both were thin cuts. They were cooked properly, so props for that, but they weren't portioned according to our order or our bill.
Still, we weren't even going to mention it because as long as it's edible, we don't complain, but the cashier pressed us, so we sheepishly told her about it. She, and the guy behind her cooking steaks, became defensive, and he became outright hostile.
He turned around and pointed his meat fork at me like he was threatening me and yelled, "I cooked those steaks! There was nothing wrong with them!!!"
A. If you don't really want to know about the customer's "experience," don't keep pressing for details; B. Maybe don't let the mentally unhinged guy near open flames and pointy implements. Seems like a dicey decision. In any case, you shouldn't allow him to interact with other human beings under any circumstances.
We had heard great things about this place, but it's a hard pass...
